Sunday school children conduct service

Patrick'. celebrated Pentecost at 7
p.m. with the Sunday School chil-
dren taking the service. Katie-

On May 7 St. Patrick's will cele-
brate Trinity Sunday with their
138th anni.ersary service. The
Rey. Stanley. Jay •will officiate the
Holy Eucharist. Refreshments and
a tinte.of fellowship ..ill follow in
• the parish hall.
The women of the congregation
• will meet at St. Patrick's for clean-
• ing. A time will he set later.

Carmel Presbyterian celebrates 150th
The Carmel Presbyterian Church In Hensel, celebrated their 180th anniversary on Sun-
day. The service had to be conducted in the dark due to a power failure that had been
caused by Sunday morning's. storm. A lunch was held after the service for the congrega-
tion. From left are church session members, Al Hoggarth, Robert Taylor, John Baker, Rev.
Peter Scott (guest speaker), Bob Bell and Harry Moir.

GRANTON -Audrey (Harlton)
Westman, (a former teacher at
SS#7 Granton in the I950s) wife of
Ken Westman, London, died on
Wednesday, May 27 after a lengthy
illness. The sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to family and
relatives.
U.C.W. Unit 2 members span-.
sored a unique perennial tea at the
church on May 23. Plants were ex-
changed and refreshments enjoyed.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday. Val Hodgins of London
led the service and her sermon was
entitled 'The Spirit Speaks' based
on the lessons from Genesis 1 I and
Acts 2. Flowers were placed in the
church from the funeral of Audrey
Westman.
Following the service the congre-
gation joined with the Sunday
School for their Sunday Sundae
Fun Day when lunch and sundaes
were enjoyed.
The anniversary service is being
held next Sunday, June 7 when •
there will he no service.at Wesley.
At St. Paul's Anglican Church.
Kirkton on Pentecost Sunday, the
Rev. Glenda Meakin's message
was about responding to the Holy
Spirit and reaching out to Others.
The lessons were read by Robert
Parkinson and the minister.
Flowers were placed in the
church in memory of Garth Black -
ler by the family.
Cleaning up signs
GRAND BEND - Councillor
Shirley Andrazia told council that
there are unauthorized signs on
Main St., at Monday's. council
meeting.
"They arc becoming hazardous
.and we arc liable plus it is starting
to look junkie," said Andrazia. 1
think we should enforce the bylaws
that prohibit them."
"If we don't take any action then
we will become liable," said coun-
cillor Bob Mann.
Council passed a motion to strin-
gently enforce the bylaw prohibit-
ing the unauthorized signage.
Fixing a leak
Gas service was temporarily suspended in Hensel! Sun-
day morning after a gas pipe broke. The gas leak on Nel-
son St. was caused by the storm that ripped through the
area early Sunday morning. Union Gas was called in to
repair the pipe.
Roughing it right

Region Commissioner's Outdoor Camping Award recently
