It just has a new . twist. - Grand Bend will . host a public ritccting • on Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. at Grand Bend Public School re- garding the in- !reduction of a seasonal gaming club in thc'viflagc. Unlike. the permanent charity:ea-. sing question put on the ballot at the November municipal election, a seasonal charity casino would aper - ate less than 12 months of the year. The vote on charity casinos at the -municipal election was 57-43. ,against a permanent charity casino in the village. . Fundtimc Corporation has been given permission by the province to operate a:seasonal facility in the Grand Bend region. In fact. the government has approved the cost of 36 full-time and eight seasonal charity gaming clubs in various re- gions of the province. • In a release to the village. The prob- lems have included snowmobiling on sidewalks. in parks. on private property.and at night: The issue was discussed at last Monday night's committee of the whsle meeting. The consensus was that the people causing the prob- lems are relatively sinall.in number and do not belong to an organized club. "We're dealing with a half-dozen or dozen people who perhaps don't belong to a club," mayor Ben Hoo- genboom said.
