Walk donation
The Exeter Lions club recently donated $2,000, raised from their television bingo, to the
Annual Exeter Optimists Walkathon fQr Children's Hospital' of .Western Ontario. The walk,
previously known at the Stephanie -Lynn Skinner Memorial Walkathon, takes place on Sun-
day beginning at the South, Huron Recreation Centre at 1 p.m, Pictured from left are Tom

Blyth Festival Singers to host cabaret
BLYTH - Leave your cares .be-
hind and come to a cabaret.
The Blyth Festival Singers are
presenting Anything Goes an eve-
ning of dinner, dancing and music
on Saturday. May l0 in the lower,
hall of the Blyth Memorial Hall.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and entertain-
ment begins at 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy appetizers and a drink
while the Blyth Festival Singers
perform a number- of favorite
songs, including, Smoke Gets In
Your Eyes, . A Gershwin Medley
• and Swinging on a Star.
There will be solo and small en-
semble numbers, as well as dancing
in the Art Gallery to the sounds of
Staffa WI plans to set up
display at Stratford Museum
The display will com-,
memorate 100 years
of the Women's insti-
tute.

Holstein Convention in Winnipeg,

with John and Joyce Milder and

• Claudette Elliott hosted the annu-
al meeting of \he' Staffa ,Women's
Institute at her home on April 23 at
1:30 p.rik. President Kay Smale pre-
sided. wef'oming everyone . and
opening with the Institute Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect followed by
a poem "My Mother's Recipe".
Minutes were read and approved
and correspondence dealt with. '
It was.moved that 'Staffs Branch
'set up a display for 100 years of
W.I. at.the Stratford Museum in

BLYTH - The largest used book
sale in .H)uen ounty returns' to
Blyth Mdpiorial Community Hall
• on Saturday, ay 31. The doors
open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• A traditional Blyth Festival. fund-
raiser for more than a decade. the
book sale features thousands of
used paperbacks, hard, covers, mag-
azines, Harlequins, cookbooks and
children's books. There are also
text hooks, oetxplete sets of ency-
clopedia, acid old. rare Ixfoks. Dur-
ing the pact -•few years, records,
tapes. compaltt discs and videos
have been added to the selection.
Refreshments, including home-
made pie, are available to hungry
browsers. Admission to the sale is
free.

office from Monday to Friday be-
tween the hours of 9 a.m. and 5
p.m. if you would like more infor-

SAINTSBURY. On April 26,
Margaret Carroll and Hazel Davis
attended the Annual Conference of
the Anglican Church Women of the
Diocese of Huron at St. Paul's Ca-
thedral, London.
The theme for 1997 was "Honor-
ing Our Past as Preparation for Our
Future." The Rev. Beverley Wheel-
er, A.C.W. Chaplain, led the morn-
ing devotions. The Rev. Wendy
Fletcher -Marsh, Professor ^f
Church History at Huron Col!, c
was guest speaker in the afternoot,
session.
The 1997 Annual Conference
ended with the celebration of the
Holy Eucharist conducted by The
Most Rev. Percy O'Driscoll, Arch-
bishop of Huron.
St. Patrick's service
On April 27, 7 he Rev. Stanley
Jay officiated at the Holy Eucharist
service at St. Patrick's at 10:30
a.m. Bob MacGillivray, along. with
Rev. Jay, read the lessons.
The Sunday School theme and
focus was "If we love one another.
God lives in us." Katie -Scarlett
MacGillivray was server for the
service.
On June 4, Rev. Jay will again be
at St, Patrick's to celebrate the
'-loly Eucharist at 10:3,0 a.m.
