the League with' a 62-57 victory
over Seaforth. Rornphf led the scor-
ing drive with 27 points, Farquhar
had 10 and Jeremy VanEsbroeck

On . February 10, the seniors
avenged an earlier loss to Clinton
by defeating them 68-46: Thirteen
different players scored.for the Pan- •
-thers with Luke sims leading the
way with 16 points.
The junior boys basketball team
came to an cad on Friday in wing -
ham as F.E. Madill won the semi-
final 53-39. The Panthers ran into
foul trouble in' the second half and
the hosts took advantage at the line.
Last- Wednesday the junior boys
won a thriller beating Seaforth 63-
58 in overtime. All players hit the
scoresheet. .
. On February 10 the juniors put it.
all -together to trounce Central Hu-
. ren 68-33. Chris Murch had 13
points while Dave Robilliard and
Ryan .Beattie had: l0 each.
The midget boys basketball team
is still looking for their first win -of
the season and came close to find-
ing it against Seaforth last week but
los in double overtime. Adam Gla-
vin had an outstanding game on de-
fence coming up -with countless
blocks to keep South Huron in the
game. They also saw action on Feb-
ruary 10 but lost to Central Huron
by eight points. -
Curling -
The South Huron District High
School curling teams competed at
the Huron Playdowns last Monday
, and Tuesday with,mixed results.
While the senior girls team hada
"comical" loss to Central. Huron
losing in the "B" finals by one
point. the seniors fought back from
an initial Toss to Central Huron and
win their next four games to cap-
ture the -"B" finals. The senior boys
skipped by. Steve Hern with Jeff
DeBiock, Gerry Geurts and Geoff
Stasik. will advance to the Huron -
Perth playdowns.
Chiefs eliminate
Harrow in three
EXETER - The Exeter Chicfs won their third and final game
against Harrow on Sunday to clinch their "first playoff series and ad-
vance to• the 'sehii-finals in the "CC" Ontario Championship
playoffs. -
After winning the -opening game in Harrow the Chiefs hosted their
opponents at thc South Huron Recreation Centre heating them 5-3
on Saturday and 6-2 on Sunday. .
Paul Knight and Marty deBruyn combined for six goals in the •.
hack -to -back games. gavin Snell scored two and Bryon Ellcrington
added one. Ryan Beckett. who was out of action for six weeks. due •
to a knee injury, joined the Chiefs for both games pumping in two '
goals and recording one assist.
'Despite sweeping their opponents in three games head coach. Hen-
ri deBruyn said the series was closer than the scoreboard depicts.
"Harrow was a good physical team capable of breaking out of
their own ?one quickly, but they didn't have the goaltending," said
deBruyn pointing out Exeter only lad 16 shots on net in the third
garlic. "Our goaltending (from Dennis Roth and Nathan Hcrn) on the
other -hand -was very good. We weren't shooting enough but we
seemed to get a good turnover." ,
Exeter is now wailing to hcar who They will 'meet in the next
round, however, they still need to complete two regular season
gables against Tijlsonburg and Port Stanley that were postponed due
to poor weather in January.
• Dcbruyn. said They may have to wait a while before the semi-finals
begin in March and the make-up games will keep then sharp.
"We still have a lot of work to do. The guys are hustling but they
look a little disoriented at times."
Exeter may host one of those make-up games on Saturday night
but that could not be confirmed by press time. ••
Last year the Exeter Chiefs made it to the semi-finals only to be
eliminated by the Listowel Cyclones, the defending league cham-
pions.
