Midget hockey round -up
EXETER/LUCAN - The Exeter
and Lucan midgets were embroiled
in OMHA playoff action last week
while the Stephen Township - and
Zurich midget teams remained idle
waiting for their first playoff games
to begin, -
.The Exeter. RSD Generals are -371 .
so far in the first roiled of their
home and home playoff series after
they 'defeated Dresden 4-2 last Sat-
urday. and Forest twice 5-1. on
Tuesday and again by a score of 4-
1 on Sunday. Exeter's only loss
came on Wednesday when . they
dropped a 5-3 decision to Lambeth.

to play the fast style of hockey
they're known for. -however. co -
coach -Dave Dalrymple was un -
phased by the loss.
"We out shot them but couldn't
seem -to put the puck in the nct
when we had the chance," said Dal-
rymple. "We beat them,before...it
shouldn't be a problem."
Jeff Campbell. who scored a hat
trick against Forest and recorded
two points against Lambeth will sit
out for three to four weeks .after
sustaining a broken wrist during a
Bantam game. .
General Manager Bill Brock said
they called up Exeter Bantam
players including Chad Monteith
and Scott Keys in Sunday's game
to beef up the players list.
Exeter will play on Wednesday
and Friday to finish the series and
placing first would give them home
ice advantage in the next round.
• LUCAN
The Lucan Midgets swept the
first round of their playoff series
defeating West Lorne 5-2 on
Wednesday, Ilderton 4,1 on Sat-
urday and Watford 7-0 on Sunday
night. Lucan allowed only three •
goals in three games on their way
to clinching top spot in the first
round of their playoffs and they
will now meet West Lorne in their
first series with the first game
scheduled for Saturday.
Jeremy Cornish (cads Lucan with
seven points, followed by Chad
Morrison, Trevor Lee and Rob Sil-
ver with four points each.
With home ice advantage, head
coach Bruce Cornish said he's con-
fident they will take West Lorne
and advance to the next round, but
he suspects things may get ugly.
The last time these two teams met
it turned into a penalty -fest with
both coaches losing their tempers.
"i lowered myself to their level
and 1 got yippie," said Cornish who
normally keeps his cool behind the
bench. He's expecting a rough
game on Saturday but he said the
team is fired up from their first
three wins and he feels confident
the score will read in their favour.
"The boys have a Mite of what
it's like to win in the playoffs and
they know what it takes," said Cor-
nish.
