A Mixed Up Christmas
By Kristylee Varley, Grade 5
Exeter Public School
`Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the house every-
thing was stirring, even the mouse.
The stockings weren't hung by
the chimney with care, all hoping
that St.' Nicholas was soon to be
there.The children were crying and
coughing while visions of tommy
guns danced in their heads. With pa
in his kerchief and I in my cap we
all tried to settle down for a short
winter's nap. When out on the lawn
there arose such a clatter, I sprang
from my couch to see what was the
matter. When what I *saw was a big
collision with Santa Claus in his
boxer shorts and his reindeer
shaved and as cold as a bald man's
bald head. I fainted as soon as I
saw it all. All of a sudden, I woke
up.All the way down the stairs I
kept on saying it was just a dream.
Signs of Christmas
By Andrea Doroshenko, Grade 6
Stephen Public School
There are signs of Christmas every-
where
The snow beneath your feet and the
cold brisk air
The winter wind with its cold blow
The layer of ice on the window
The bells that are ringing
The Christmas carollers are singing
The fresh fragrance of peppermints
The bright lights with their shades
and tints
There are signs of Christmas every-
where
They're here, there and every-
where.
Why Christmas is
Special to Me
By Brad Robinson, Grade 3
Usborne Central
Some people think that Christmas
is a special time of year because
they get presents. That's not the
whole idea. It's because Jesus was
born. I think that's why they ring
church bells. Sometimes I wonder
what it would have been like in
those times. I like Christmas be-
cause my relatives and I get to sit
down and eat. I like eating turkey.
After supper we open our presents.
Sometimes if it is a board game my
sister and I play it.
The Teddy Bear
Christmas
By Amy Turkheim, Grade 3
Zurich Public School
One Christmas Eve there was a
little boy named Cody. He was five
years old and lived near the North
Pole. Everyone had teddy bear
mailboxes. It was one day before
Christmas. Cody was outside sled-
ding down the town hill until it got
colder. When it did get colder he
and his friends walked home.After
that he had supper and went to bed.
The next morning was Christmas.
Cody ran downstairs and went in
the other room and waited for his
Mom and Dad to come and open
presents. Finally he heard his Mom
and Dad coming downstairs. He ran
right in front of them and said,
"Cant we Open presents please!
Please! Please!"
I think he's a little excited said
his Mom to his Dad. "Alright", said
his Dad. Then they were all done.
Cody noticed that everyone got ted-
dy bears. "Oh I know," said Cody.
'Everyone has teddy bear mailbox-
es."
