EXETER - There are far too
many coaches throughout our com-
munity whose hard work and con-
scientious efforts go unnoticed.
Every community seems to have
a few of these special people. They
spend countless hours enhancing
the young athletes they coach while
presenting a positive image of
sports and athletics.
Exeter and its surrounding com-
munity has a rich sporting history
and behind all the tradition are
hours of unpaid dedication by local
coaches.
To help recognize the daily con-
tributions of people who coach in
our coverage area, the Times -
Advocate is teaming up with the
Coaching Association of Canada
and 3M in the Community Coaches
Recognition Program.
The program is designed to honor
coaches who go beyond the call of
duty, and exemplify excellence in
their coaching performance and
philosophies. There are many wor-
thy candidates, all they need is for
your to nominate them.

this issue of the Times -Advocate
and reminders will appear for the
next three issues. They are also

tions are due by March 30.

choose four outstanding candidates
after reviewing all nominees and
select a male coach winner and a

coach winner and a runner-up.
They will receive a forma' certif-
icate and a gold -tone lapel pin.
Photos of the recipients will appear
in the Times -Advocate at a later
date.
It may only be a small token of
appreciation for these coaches, but
they deserve to be recognized for
their support of sports in our area.

Woes continue for Irish
LUCAN - The woes continue for the Lucan Irish as they lost a
tight game to Seaforth on Wednesday night extending their losing
slump to six consecutive games.
Lucan fell behind early as Seaforth jumped to a two goal lead in
the first period. Andrew Stratton struck back for the Irish scoring an
unassisted goal three minutes into the second and Adam Duskocy
added Lucan's second goal with Greg Henderson picking up the as-
sist, but they still trailed by one point going into the third.
Seaforth went up by two midway through the period when a bullet
beat Lucan goaltender Nathan Maudsley, but Ryan Baynham replied
for Lucan after he picked up a rebound from Steve Hudson's shot
and deposited the puck in the net.
With the extra skater on the ice Lucan tried desperately to tie the
game and send it into overtime, but Seaforth prevailed handing the
home team their sixth loss.
"We didn't get any breaks out there. We had our chances to win
we just couldn't bury it," said head coach George Pratt after the
gan e. "Nothing seems to go your way when your in a slump."
Pratt is eager to break the losing skid and relieve the pressure so
they can concentrate on playing the type of hockey that put them in
second place in the Morenz division earlier this season. Lucan has
now slipped to fourth place according to league standings.
"The pressure of being in a slump can build on the players. It's al-
ways at the back of your mind," he said.
The Lucan irish squared off against the Exeter Hawks on Friday
night, however, results were not known at press time.
