Santa's Trip to Hawaii By Stefan Zehetner, Grade 5 Precious Blood School Last October Santa had a very bad cold. He was coughing and sneezing all day long and he had a fever. Mrs. Clause was very wor- ried and made chicken noodle soup for Santa but Santa didn't get bet- ter. So they decided that Santa should go on a trip down south and have a holiday in the sun. They went to the travel agent and bought a ticket for Santa to Hawaii. Santa packed some shorts, t -shirts and his bathing suit and off he went. When he arrived in Hawaii he was very excited about the sun and the beach. He swam in the ocean and built sand castles. Soon his cold got better. One day when he was at the beach Santa met a lit- tle boy. His name was Rico. They played together every day. Rico's father was a fisherman and he took Santa and Rico out on his boat fishing. One day Rico invited Santa to his parents' house for sup- per. For supper they had all kinds of Hawaiian food and Santa really liked it. Rico had five brothers and sisters and they all liked to play with Santa. Then they asked Santa to tell them a story. Santa told them a sto- ry about the North Pole and the reindeer and the snow. Rico and his brothers and sisters really liked Santa's story and they wanted to hear more about the snow. They had never seen snow in their life. When Santa asked them what they wanted for Christmas they all said that they would like to go to the North Pole to play in the snow. The next day Santa had to go home again. He said goodbye to Rico and his family and soon he was back in the North Pole with Mrs. Claus.
