We gather because Christ'is the centre-'o`t'only of thetdvent' wreath, but of our lives. As more people focus on the lights the flame grows stronger. The intensity with which we await the birth of the Christ Child fuels our desire for his presence in our lives. We recognize that it is in the times when darkness is most pronounced and our hearts are aching, that we search for the infant that brought us life. We reach out to embrace the child that is named the Light of The World. And we find this child not only in a manger, but in the warmth of Christmas baking; in the excitement of stringing popcorn; and in the blessings of family and friends. We experience Christmas as we reach out to each other and share in the Divine gifts. This year, as we look toward Christmas Day, we can do so with the assurance that Christ will be revealed. Christ will bring hope, peace, joy and love. It is God's promise to us, as it was that first Christmas Day. "Unto you a child will be born, and he shall be called Emmanuel - God with us." Wishing you a Blessed and Holy Christmas! wa 3s'tiStt begirt' b' irepatie' bfe is ` 1' 'g: MMng shopping, entertaining and decorating our homes are all part of the tradition that has become Christmas. Advent is the Christian preparation' for the Christmas Season. It is during the Season of Advent that we light Candles to illumine our souls in preparation for the coming of the Christ Child. These candles form a circle without beginning or end, which reminds us of the everlasting presence of Christ. Each year we light the Advent Candles. Our prayer continues to be that we discover the hope, peace, joy and love that is present in God's gift of the Holy Child. They are the lights of our faith. They are the foundation upon which we build our understanding of how God is present with us in the world. For many during this Christmas Season we feel that the lights are being threatened. In the midst of our pain and sorrow it is as if the lights are being over -shadowed and our hearts cannot endure festive celebrations. And yet, Christians around the world are continuing to prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ. We come together as communities of faith to witness the Christmas Story. We gather to seek new hope, and to strengthen the bonds of peace. We gather to rediscover joy and to Bureau donations Loading up a van full 'of presents on Monday are, from left, Jeff Mason, Janet Peterson, Jenn Mercer, Sarah Grbtehtraast and Darryl Romphf, The items were donated to the Huron County Christmas Bureau by students of South Huron District High School. Your Views Letters to the editor A Christmas poem Dear Editor: When my wife June was so busy wrapping Christ- mas presents and got them mixed up with our grandchildren's birthday presents, the enclosed thought "Which Present Did We Wrap For Santa" entered my mind. On this festive season some of your readers may enjoy it to escape from the real world we live in. Respectfully, Harry A. Schroeder RR 2 Centralia Which Present Did We Wrap for Santa? We forgot what we wrapped for Santa There beneath the Christmas tree We wrapped so many and tagged so few Which present could it be? Te silver parcel with the bright gold bow That we wrapped with tender care If we're mistaken Santa's present could be Grandma's hew underwear. How much Was it's value? How much did we pay? Would Santa be happy With a black neglie_ ? How much do we love him? Who honestly knows? Would he look like an elf In tight green panty hose? The Christ child in the manger Shepherds, angels, stari'atid all Would Santa love to snuggle up To a cute little Barbie doll? Alas! I think we've solved it Now we'll rise above this gloom We'll be like Rudolf and sniff it out Santa's bottle of fragrant perfume. • Hol Ho! Ho! %i • Merry Christmas. • 'i Harry A Schroeder ••4iy! ey.
