ing December 13, 1996.

The ted steers and heifers sold steady with the cows selling $2.00 -
$3.00 lower. Vela sold $2.00 lower with new crop lambs selling
sharply higher. Stockers were strong on Friday.
There were 274 steers on offer selling from 88.00 to 92.00 to the high of 98.00.
Ten steers consigned by Ron Dietrich, Mildmay averaging 1162 lbs. sold for an average
of 90.17 with sales to 98.00.
Thirty-nine steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan averaging 1311 lbs. sold
for an average of 91.46 with sales to 97.00.
Thirteen steers consigned by Schmidt Brook Farms Inc., Woodstock averaging 1390
lbs. sold for a 89.82 with sales to 96.00.
Twelve steers consigned by Bruce Bros., Belgrave averaging 1426 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of 88.33 with sales to 94.50.

Recognition Night was held recent-
ly. The evening began with wel-
coming remarks from Fair Board
president Carol Damen, followed
by a roast beef dinner put on by the
Kirkton Women's Institute.
Approximately 130 people at-
tended with 11 4-H clubs represent-
ed by leaders and members. Each
club was introduced by their leader
and achievement bars were given
out.
Dairy Club award winners were:
Qebra Wallis, high novice; Beth -
Ann Hem, champion showperson,
champion dairy calf, girls high
point award; Jared French, boys
high point award; Remco Brinke,
OFA jacket winner.
Beef Club award winners were:

Market report for December 10, 1996.
The market at Denfield traded on a good demand at prices re-
flecting the downward trend but still a good active market. Good
cows traded at steady prices. Stockers sold steady. Weaner pigs
steady, sows and boars steady.
Don Eedy and Mark Vanderploeg, Denfield sold 11 heifers avg.
wt. 1228 lbs. avg. price 93.32 to a high sale of 100.25 purchased by
Holly Park.
Norman Hodgins, Parkhill sold 32 steers avg. wt. 1327 lbs. avg.
price 91.80 sales to 98.25 purchased by Holly Park.
Steve Vokes, Bothwell sold 10 steers avg. wt. 1314 lbs. avg. price

out for project completion. Twenty-
three first-year member pins were
awarded, sponsored by Pioneer
Seeds Dealers in Perth County.
Nine members received their six
project award - a 4-H pen set.
Twelve project awards were re-
ceived by Jared Frees, Beth -Ann
Hem and Jaqueline Culbert. An 18 -
project award went to Sarah
McKay - travel clock. A 24 -project
award went to Andrea French
Snyder -framed print. •
OFA jackets were awarded to Re-
mco Brinke, Erica Levy and Mason
