Sign bylaw passed
EXETER - Despite a suggestion that school zone crossing be attempted
as a first step in correcting speeding traffic problem along Marlborough
Street, council passed a bylaw to place two stops signs on the road. One
will be installed at Sanders and one at John Street.
"Once they're in place, they're hard to remove," said Councillor Roy
Triebner who suggested a progression from school signage to stop signs if
necessary.
Deputy Mayor Dave Urlin said the residents along that street have re-
peatedly asked for stop signs to slow traffic and protect children who
cross the street from Precious Blood School."
I think that to do anything less than put stop signs at Sanders and John
would be ineffective," added Councillor Robert Drummond.
OPP support of the bylaw was also discussed by council as was the sug-
gestion the school board install a fence around the field adjacent to the
school."
