Biddulph says no
to sander box
BIDDULPH TOWNSIIIP - Council declined Road Superintendent
Hugh Davis' request to purchase a sander box for the township's
tandem truck.
Council questioned the need for this equipment prior to proposed
amalgamation with the Village of Lucan. Without knowing what
grants are available for next year and with a new infrastructure pro-
gram likely in the works, council also felt it would need money in
reserves to both moderate a tax increase and participate in infra-
structure plans.
Although the new sander box is valued at $23,000, Davis pointed
out the difference between it and the present one would only be
$10,000. The new sander, which would have dispensed sand in front
of the drive wheels, contains a conveyor, which eliminates the need
to raise the box.
