Christmas concert at Goshen Church

VARNA - Sunday December 15
was then third Sunday of Advent and
the Cajtdle of Love was lit in the
Goshen Church by Susan and
Norm lckel and family. Holy Com-
munion was also celebrated.
The flowers were placed in the
church in loving memory of Mark
Webster. Our prayers and thoughts
go out. to the Webster families.
Also to the Linfield family on the
passing of Bill's mother, Velma
Linfield.
Following the Church Service a
short concert was held. Joe Laurie

On Friday morning, there
will be a Christmas Assembly
to end off the year. On Friday
afternoon, Spirit Day is taking
place. Anyone can participate
in a basketball tournament,
volleyball tournament, euchre
tournament, or you can watch
a movie for the afternoon. You
can sign up in the main foyer
at lunch and it costs $1 to en-
ter. The winners of each tour-
nament can win money! Do
sign up before Friday.
Thank you to everyone who
helped support the Christmas
Bureau by donating canned
goods at the semi -formal. Your
help and consideration is
greatly appreciated.
The semi -formal was last
Thursday night and it went
over very well. More than 400
people attended.
Congratulations to the Space
Invaders for winning the Intra-
mural Dodgeball Champion-
ships this week. Ryan Soldan
led the team to an unprecedent-
ed perfect season.
School doesn't start again
until January 6. Have a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New
Year... Bill Kline
introduced the talent. Stacey. Kell
and Kimberly Consist and Katrina
Merner acted out and sang a few
Christmas songs.
Leanne Keys pleyed the flute and
Jennifer sang "Oh Little Town of
Bethlehem". Danny Peck and Dar-
ren Keys read a Merry Christmas
recitation. Stacey Consitt, Tammy
Peck, Cameron Laurie and Graham
Laurie all played different numbers
on the keyboard. Janette and Blake
Reid sang a song. Heather and
Valerie Laurie played their trum-
pets. Danny Keys also read a reci-
tation.
Everyone looks forward to this
concert as the little ones steal the
show.
Art and Jean Bennett spoke. Jean
read a letter and showed photos
from Isaiah from Zambia. Isaiah
was visiting in Goshen for a week
about 10 years ago and still keeps
in touch with Art and Jean. He is
studying to become a Pastor and
also working on a Correspondence
Farm Management course through
the University of Guelph. Isaiah
was married in September and sent
along photos of his wedding.
The concert ended with carol
singing and Santa came to distrib-
ute gifts to the children and lunch
and fellowship took place in the
Sunday School room.
Sunday December 22 (Christmas
Sunday) will be in Goshen at 10:30
a.m.
A special service of Worship and
healing will be held in Varna Sun-
day December 22 at 7:30 p.m. This
will be a Christmas Service of
prayers, scripture and music.
The Christmas Eve Candlelight
Service of Worship will be at 7:30
p.m. at the Varna Church. Let's
celebrate Christ's birthday.
Youth Group
The Teens Youth Group met on
Sunday and went Carol singing at
many different places where there
were shut-ins etc.
Saturday evening many in the
area gathered together for a Christ-
mas dinner and dance at the com-
plex. Groups included Stanley
Township Council, staff, rec com-
mittee and ball coaches, Hill and
Hill, Dave Mustard Plumbing,
Countrywide Realty, Clausen
Farms and Parker and Parker.
The Rec Committee's Family
Fun Night is this Friday December
20 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The cost
is $10 per family and $5 a single.
Please bring finger desserts and hot
dogs will be provided. Santa will
