PHARMACY
Q. I have a difficult time
swallowing tablets so I have been
crushing my medications and
taking them with yogurt. Is this
OK?
A. Some medications can be
crushed without affecting the
effectiveness of the drug.
Crushing or chewing some
medications though can break
their enteric coating, which
may cause the drug to be
leased in a part of the
mach that is not desired.
ushing can also ruin the
timed release action of a medication. Before crushing
or chewing a tablet ask your pharmacist. We want to
make sure that you get the best results from your
medication with the least side effects.

APPLIANCE CENTRE
Q. When buying a new
refrigerator, do I need a
special water hook-up for an
automatic ice -machine and
water dispenser?
A. Yes, a special water line
needs to be installed for
the icemaker, but it is a
fairly easy job. You need to
connect a 1/4 inch self -
tapping shut-off valve
(available at most
hardware type stores) to
the nearest cold water line
beneath the kitchen floor.
You then run a line of 1/4 inch soft copper
tubing to the fridge, leaving 5.6 feet extra so that
the refrigerator can still be rolled in and out of its
space if needed. All the connections for the water
line to the refrigerator are included with the
icemaker kit, or the refrigerator, and "voila", You
have ice and water at your fingertips.

Meat pies made In Salntsbury
Another pie -making bee is
planned to fill orders.
By H. Davis
Saintsbury correspondent
SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's celebrated their
Holy Eucharist service at 10:30 a.m., All Saints Sun-
day, November 3 with Rev. Stanley Jay as celebrant.
Arnold Cunningham sang "What a Friend We Have
in Jesus" before the children went to their classes.
Rose Cunningham was server and Margaret Car-
roll gave the scripture readings.
On November 10, St. Patrick's will celebrate their
Morning Prayer service at 10:30 a.m.
On Saturday the women of St. Patrick's held a
very successful meat pie making bee at the Parish
hall. They are planning to have another pie -
making bee soon to fill all the orders.
Bill and Betty Johnson were weekend visi-
tors with the Davis's and helped with the pie
making and Sunday the women enjoyed the
Holiday Home Tour presented by the Thames
Valley Children's Centre Auxiliary in London.
Suzanne Davis and children enjoyed Sunday
lunch with her mom Dorothy Dietrich at her
home in Dashwood.
Birthday wishes go to Arnold Cunningham,
who is celebrating his birthday this week.
Sympathy of the community goes to the
Caldwell and Dickins famlies in the loss of
mother, grandmother and sister Bessie Dickins
Caldwell, who passed away on the weekend
and was buried on Tuesday from Williams Fu-

SOUND ADVICE
Q. Can I add speakers to my existing
television to improve the sound?
A Extra speakers can usually be
added to your television, and will
greatly improve the sound of
movies, sports, or anything. There
are a few methods which can be
used in achieving this goal.
The first step is to check the back of
your television for speaker clips.
There should be 2 black, and 2 red
clips. If you have these, just plug in a
pair of speakers and enjoy.
If not, then look for a set of slip-on
RCA type jacks labelled as
"VARIABLE AUDIO OUT", or just AUDIO OUT".
Now, if you have a small mini stereo with an "AUXILIARY INPUT",
you can play your television through It, or the same way with a
stereo or home theater amplifier.
For more information, call or stop in and let us help you get your
system up to par for Christmas.

FINANCIAL CONSULTANT
Q. Should I have a lawyer do
my will?
A A good quality lawyer may
save you a lot of money
(including probate fees) in the
long run. Estate laws have
become very complex in the
past couple of years.
Therefore, by hiring a
qualified lawyer, an expert to
look afterour Will, your
Living Will and your Power of
Attorney, you will save
yourself and your heirs
complications later. Other
methods available that are
designed to save you money
now, may end up costing you more in the long run
through unnecessary litigation.
Remember, when you are hiring a lawyer, you are
hiring their training and their expertise in this area.
Experts know the errors made by others and how to
avoid them in the future. If you don't have a lawyer,
your Financial Consultant can refer you to one.

Q. Do all kitchen and bathroom
taps haveIaeement parts
available? I not what is the
alternative.
A. Exeter Do It stocks a wide
range of new faucets as well
as replacement parts for old.,
faucets. Faucets basically can #'
be of 2 types: compression
and non -compression. Older 1
style Compression faucets use - •
washers to seal the inlet.
Newer style non -compression
faucets use a brass or plastic
ball, or a cartridge to stop the
flow of water. Making repairs
to leaky faucets is usuallyan easy task.
We stock a wide array ofreplacementparts for most
popular makes. Many of today's more expensive
faucets are guaranteed by the manufacturer to be
leakproof for life. If one of these faucets start to leak, it
is repaired free of charge. Whether you are repairing
or replacing a leaky faucet, always remember this
cardinal rule: don't forget to shut off the water supply!

Q. Most of my breathing
problems (asthma) occur
when I am in my home, why
is this and how can I help my
situation?
A. The air in our homes
contains small particles of
dead human skin, dust,
pollens allergens, dust mite
feces, etc. If you have pets,
you may be allergic to their
odors or dander. Also a
moldy, mildewy basement can
give off gases that causes a
highly allergic reaction to
some people, not to mention
the many cleaning products in our homes containing
many respiratory irritants. To help dean these
pollutants out of your air call Lifetime Home
Products for a free three day home trial of an ALPINE
air purifier.

Q. Do You recommend
cleaning an arra rug?
A. We recommend that
area rugs be cleaned and
maintained the same as
any other carpeting in
your home. This involves
touching up with a spot
remover and having it
steam cleaned, when
necessary. If the area rug is
made of wool, we
recommend having it
'c eaited by' al iirole*ional
who is experienced with
cleaning wool tugs.
CAT FOOD
Q. Can you explain why it is
important that cat food has a
low ash and magnesium
content? Why should they
have dry food opposed to
caned cat food?
A. The total mineral content of
a food is what is known as
ash. Ash refers to the residue
leftover after lab analysis,
during which the food is burnt
at 600 deg. C. It is a common
misconception that a low ash
diet is ideal. While at one
time, high ash foods were
thought to cause bladder
stones, ft's been proven that
this is not the case. A low
magnesium content in food is
important, however, in
seducingbladder stones and infections. As far as dry
cat foodascompared to canned is concerned, it is the
pet owner's choice. In general, dry is cheaper and
better for the teeth, but each form mayrovide a
complete and balanced diet. MTS provides a wide
variety of pet foods to meet all of your feeding needs.

WINDOWS & DOORS
Q What type of windows do '^
you suggest for easy
cleaning?
A. Both Dashwood and
Andersen make a variety of
windows, that are easy to
clean from Inside the home.
A double; ang window that
