CASE 111
Established in 1938
Wuerth Shoes was originally opened by the late A.E.
Wuerth in 1938 as a shoe repair shop, but was soon sell-
ing mens boots and shoes. The shoe repair trade peaked
In the 1960's with the Centralia RCAF base providing
enough work for 4-5 full time shoe repairmen. The busi-
ness was purchased by Reynold and Willa Wuerth in the
mid 60's and they added a complete line of ladies and
childrens footwear, while maintaining a complete repair
service.
In 1984 the third generation of Wuerths entered the
business when John & Linda Wuerth became the new own-
ers. The business was soon expanded with a Clinton loca-
tion opening In the fall of 1982, which was soon followed
with a new store in Goderich in the spring of 1987. The
original store in Exeter doubled in size in 1988 with the
purchase of the builds to the south (371 Main) in cele-
bration of the 50th ann . A Seaforth location was
opened In the spring of 199 .
Wuerth Sh"es continues to serve alt of Huron County
and John arta Linda are looking forward to the challenges
of the 21st century. lbarr
