GRAND BEND - An Exeter woman got the ride of her life at Grand Bend Motorplex last Wednesday. Anne Lindenfield won a ride in a high powered dragster after her business card was drawn in a con- test during the track's Good Neigh- bor Night event. A brief discussion erupted among the drivers present as to who's car she would get to ride in and all of them agreed she would go in the fastest car there. Lindenfield soon found herself strapped in a 1970 Camaro with a 454 cubic inch engine that races in the Super Pro di- vision at Mo- torplex. Driven by racing veteran Don Collver from Lobo, the car dubbed "Manic Me- chanic," took Lindenfield down the quarter -mile track in just 10.18 sec- onds reaching a top speed of 131 m.p.h. "It was so exciting, I'm still on a high," said Lindenfield about the short but fast ride. The roar of the engine was 'deaf- ening as the car's front end lifted when it took off from the starting line and the g -force pinned Linden - field to her seat, but she said she felt no fear at all. "I wasn't scared...there wasn't any time to be scared," she said. Already a drag racing fan and a regular visitor at Grand Bend Mo- torplex, Lindenfield said she has al- w;nys been interested in high pow - crud halts but she now has a greater appreciation for them.
