Times Advocate, 1994-01-26, Page 11/\\ Times -Advocate, January 26, 1994 PIDA,111 The ultimate in tow -behinds RUSSELDALE- Bob Ulch, president of Russeldale Farm Equipment said this week he is continuing to be optimistic about the future of farming for 1994. A year ago in this same feature Ulch said he was confident things were going to turn around with the economy and the weather and he was right. Wednesday morning he said, "Commodity prices are looking good and it is nice to see more optimism in farming. I hope the economy continues in the right direction." In addition to being a dealership for a number of farm equipment com- - panies, Ulch has branched out into manufacturing of snowmobiledrailers. Springing forth as the brainwave of service manager Doug Bell is the Sno Rocker, the ultimate in tow behind snowmobile trailers. The deluxe model is ideal for passengers and is capable of following your snowmobile without throwing passengers on rough terrain, riding through moguls on a walking beam suspension and air ride spring. Also available is a cargo hauler. The deluxe model is air suspended for infinite adjustability to any load and all components are lightweight and the all steel construction is in are- as where strength is needed. Safety features include tongue skate to prevent nose dive in the event of unhitching and sealed beam, tail light and brake Tight for maximum flexi- bility. The aero dynamic windshield effectively cuts wind, and keeps snow dust and ice pellets off the passengers. Manufacturing of the Sno Rocker began last September and Ulch says it evens out shop activity at an otherwise low point and fits the bill as a fill- in project. Russeldale Farm Equipment has been operated by Bob Ulch since 1966 and carries a full line of Massey Ferguson tractors and combines, White New Idea planters, tillage equipment and manure spreaders. Also in stock are Kongskilde plows and cultivators. Hardi sprayers, Massey Ferguson garden and lawn equipment and Haybuster drills. Over the years, Massey Ferguson combines have become the preferred choice of North America's most demanding customers. It's a legacy of which MF owners are extremely proud and one intended to continue with the best rotary combining technology and customer support. The 8570 combine has a Targe rotor surface. This large area, combined with multipass threshing and separation, permits wider, less-agressive con- cave settings to reduce crop damage and power requirements while im- proving grain sample quality. A hydrostatic pump and drive motor allow for variable rotor speed with no variable -speed drive belts or pulleys, and provides powered reverse to dislodge slugs. Using the electronic rotor speed control, you can quickly and precisely set rotor RPM for top performance. From the moment you climb up the stair -step entry and sit down in the deluxe, fabric seat you will know that a lot of thought and experience went into designing the MF 8570 cockpit. To start with, the cab is large and positioned on the left side. This pro- vides an excellent view to the rear, for on -the -go unloading and backing up, along with a full view of the header operation with less neck strain. The Inge front window is tilted to reduce dust buildup and all windows are tinted to reduce glare. Ulch says the White New Idea planter is becoming more popular and widely used for white beans, soybeans, field corn, sweet corn, popcorn, etc. You can go from wide 40 to 30 inch rows to narrow rows of 20 and 15 inches simply by adding the narrow row attachment. They use the same time -proven positive air metering system as base planters for accurate spacing and precise depth control. Ulch says these planters can be adapted to no -till quite readily. Russeldale Farm Equipment has a full-time staff of nine employees in- cluding Bob Ulch and his wife Mildred who is office manager and secre- tary -treasurer. The parts department consists of parts manager Larry Elliott and Dan Witschi. Doug Bell is service manager. The mechanics are Bob Wilker and apprentices Wes Quast, Jasson Christie and Perry Lealess.
