10 good reasons to
wear a seat belt
Here are 10 good reasons to wear a seat belt:
10. To do your part to make Ontario's roads the safest in North Amer-
ica. /
9. To set an example for the children in your life — who should al-
ways be properly secured when travelling with you.
8. Because you have good driving habits and don't need the semi-
annual seat belt safety blitzes to remi you to do it.
7. You know many collisi within a short distance of the
home, so excuses such as "I forgot" or "It was a short trip" just don't
wash with you.
6. Because you know that increased insurance premiums will be the
least of your concerns if you get thrown from your vehicle in a colli-
sion.
5. Because even in a burning or submerged vehicle -- which account
for less than one-half of one percent of all crashes — your best chance
for survival is to remain unhurt, conscious and able to escape.
4. You know that drivers who don't wear them are 15 times more
likely to be killed, and five times more likely to be hospitalized, than
those who do.
3. To improve your chances of not being among the 1,000 people
who die, or Ric 90,000 who are injured, on Ontario roads each year.
2. The S9 `billion annual cost of collisions - in property damage,
health care, wage loss, and lost future earnings - which would be dra-
matically reduced if more people wore them.
1. A $90 fine and, as of January 1, 1994, two demerit points for not
taking safety into your own hands by buckling up.
Students at St. Boniface School found the snow made great forts. Front left, Anita Klassen, Roberta Smith, Dustin Verhoeck;
back left, Pamela,INeidinger, Meridith Denomme and Michelle Denomme were the builders of this structure.

This photograph is believed to be a class photograph taken at an Usborne School, probably
before the turn of the century. From the collection of a township resident, it is hoped the pho-
to can be added to an upcoming Township pictorial history book, if it can be identified. Any-
one who can help is invited to contact either the Times -Advocate or Fem Dougall at 235-2407.
