Lucan precision teams preparing for competitions"`'
LUCAN - The Lucan Precision
Figure Skating Teams were on the
ice last Wednesday night and pre-
sented a demonstration of the skills
they will be using in upcoming
competitions.
The Junior Team called 'Fire on
Ice' is comprised of girls between
the ages of 14 and 19 and are
coached by Alma and Carol Moir
and choreographed by Suzanne
Grigg.
Their first competition is sched-
uled for Jan. 22 in Fort Erie and
then they head to Windsor foVtr
lowed by St. Catharines and then
March 26 in Lucan.
. The younger group, the 'Ice
Gems' is made up of girls between
7-12. They have four competitions
beginning with Fort Erie, then SL
Marys, Durham and Lucan.
They are coached by Raellen
Seamen and 'managed by Gail
Moir.

its test day

EXETER Seven local hockey
players have been selected to play
in the Shamrock* --Hockey League
all-star games on Friday in Lamb-
eth. Representing the Exeter Ban-
tam Legionnaires will be forwards
Jeff MacLean and Jeff Sararas
along with defensemen BrianJ ich-
ardson.
Goalie Darren Kints alpng with
forward Gavin Snell and defense -
men Mau Godbolt and Trevor Tay-
lor will represent the RSD Midget
Generals. The bantam game is at 7
p.m. followed by the midget con-
test.

EXETER - At mid-season the
third round of squash at the Huron
Racquet Club is . complete and
players are eager to start a New
Year's league this week..
Leading the November -
December league's first division
was Jamie Grant while Jim Jean
placed a close second. Doug Hock
and Stu Homuth tied for the top
spot in the second division and
Steve Johns and Vernon Dean took
first and second in the ttiird group.
A squash challenge ladder was
started in December and this will
continue into mid-January. Orga-
nizer Jamie Dougall is pleased to
see 17 signed up already. Prizes
will be awarded for the top and
most often played members.
The club's annual meetin ,is Sun-
day at 7:30 p.m.
"It's a chance for all members to
make suggestions and changes and
improvements to the club," said
Dougall.
Recent alterations to the showers
and for court renovation have been
welcomed by tete players.

Zurich Storm head to tournament final
Silver Stick '94
TIV TON - Outscoring their opponents 31 to 9 the Zurich Peewee
have advanced to the Silver Stick Tournament final.
On Saturday at 5 p.m., the Storm who are undefeated in 11 league
games, will take on Wallace.
Over the holidays, the Storm beat Ayton 10-3, Shallow Lake 7-1,St.
Clements 8-1 and in the semi-final topped Ripley 6-4.
Against Ayton, both Jarreu Jeffrey and Nick Regier had
two assists while Brad Brown had two goals and three assists.
Rrown had two go:Ss and duce assists against Shallow Lake while Jel-"
frey netted two and added two assists. Also scoring was Regier with two/
plus an assist.
Jeffrey had four goals and two assists against St. Clements while Brown
had three goals plus three assists. Mike Laporte also scored for the win-
ners.
Brown had four plus an assist and Jeffrey had a goal and three assists
against Ripley while Jeremy Geoffrey also scored. Goalie Daryl Smale
picked up the four wins.

warded with the return of the
Penalty P cc Sweepstakes for a
seventh campaign. This year's
program promises to be the best
yet, with 52 teams who play a
penalty free game being reward-
ed with exciting prizes valued
over $24,000.00.
This year, the Penalty Frcc
Sweepstakes will run from De-
cember 26, 1993 through Janu-
ary 30, 1994. Any amateur hock-
ey team in Ontario that plays an
entire game penalty free during
the contest period is eligible to
enter.
The Penalty Free Sweepstakes
will try to better the record
4,723 team entries received last
year. Developed by the Mem-
bers of the hockey Devclop-
ment Centre for Ontario, the
program has had over 21,000 en-
tries during it's first six years.
"With over 63 percent of the
21,(XX) entries either winning or
tying their penalty free game,
this program certainly has illus-
trated that clean hockey is win-
ning ,hockey," noted Program
Spokesperson Paul Henderson.
"We definitely think the Penalty
Prec Sweepstakes program is
helping to change the attitudes
et people, involved with amateur
hockey in Ontario."

Legionnaires fall to Mitchell
WATFORD - After winning their first two games in Watford the Exeter
Bantam Legionnaires came up short 6.3 against Mitchell.
Last Tuesday Exeter beat Ridgetowrt 4-1 as Jeff MacLean had two goals
and two assists with single goals from Geoff Maver and Scott Rasenberg.
Jeff Sararas had two assists.
Wednesday, MacLean had three goals and three assists in a 9-0 shutout
win over Mooretown AE. Goalie Mike Schwindt had the shutout and add-
ed an assist. Also scoring were Dave Farquhar and Ryan Beckett each
with two while Rob Morrissey and Wes Regier had two assists each.
Against Mitchell, Farquhar had two goals and MacLean netted the other.
Bad roads stop Broncos
ALVINSTON - The Exeter Atom Broncos got a tough break on Thurs-
day when they had to forfeit their game to Kingsville. Exeter could not get
to the game due to bad road conditions and the Silver Stick committee
would not reschedule the game.
Exeter was nipped 4-3 in overtime by Dresden. Scoring for Exeter were
Craig Overholt, Mike Seip and Mark Bilinsky. Dresden scored 21 seconds
into the overtime period.

Lucan Atoms take consolation
ALVINSTON - Jolene Heffernan and Adam Thompson each scored two
goals as Lucan won the 'C division consolation final of the Silva Stick
Tournament in Alvinston.
In a 6-1 win over the hosts, Matt Thompson had a goal and two assists
while Jonathan Smith scored oge and set up another.
Goalie Joe Dobbie had the tout in a 3-0 win over Mooretown as Mau
Thompson, Trevor Smith and Jonathan Smith scored.
Lucan opened with a 6-2 win over Parkhill as Stephen Wraith and Jona-
than Smith netted two each with singles to Heffernan and David Park.
Chris Windsor had two assists.
Stephen Bantams split games
WATFORD - Stephen Township bantams split their Silver Stick games
in Watford as they started with a 5-3 win over Watford. In that one, Tim
Morgan had two goals and three assists for the winners while Jeff Glavin
scored twice and set up two more. Also scoring was Ben McCann.
In the second game, Stephen fell 4-1 to Belmont as Tim Morgan had the
lone goal.

Stephen Township Senior Girls and Junior
Girls teams were playing at a tournament in
Monkton on 1)ecember 27, 28, sponsored by
Stratford Minor Hockey. The Junior team
took a Bronze medal while the Senior team
took a Silver medal. Amanda Glavin who is
the goalie for the Junior team also played
goal for the Senior team and made a lot of
saves in all six games played.
