The Snowman
By Matthew Johns
Grade 2, Exeter Public School
Once upon a time there was a
snowman named Frosty. He liked
playing. He liked running and hav-
ing fun. He was made on Christ-
mas Day. Ile liked laughing. He
teased people. He like playing with
people and having fun with them.
He ran and had so much fun he
didn't hear the traffic cop say
"Stop!!!"
He said, "Sorry" to the cop for
going across the road. He crossed
the road on the green light and got
across the road. He finally got
across to the other side and went to
the next cross over. He went on the
green light and when he came back
he went across both streets on the
green lights with his friends.
On that day Frosty took a walk
with his friends. He wore a silk hat
which made him real and that day
he came to life. He had a button
nose. He wore a jacket which kept
him warm. He had two eyes made
out of coal that the children found.
He had a mouth made from a car-
rot so he could eat each day and so
he could laugh when we hard
something funny and so he could
talk to other people. He smelled all
the things of Christmas and the
snow. He saw Christmas things.
He saw a snowman. He saw all the
prices and the presents that were in
underneath the trees.
He walked from house to house
to house and he saw the lights on
the houses and the lights on the -
trees in the houses where the
presents were. He walked and he
walked until he was hungry. So he
went to K.F.C. and ordered the
Festive Meal Deal and the mini
turtles came with it. He ate all of it.
And he got a drink. He sat down
and drank alt of it.
He was so tired he forgot the
way home and got lost. He started
to walk one way. He saw home he
thought. So he went there. It wasn't
the place. So he started to walk in
another direction. He found his
way home. He went there. It was
the house. He was happy to be
home. He found the place where he
was made that day. He lived happi-
ly ever after.

The Elf who was Jealous
By Julie Forrest
Hensel! PS., Grade 7
Way up at the North Pole Santa
and his elves were getting ready for
Christmas, but there was one prob-
lem. It started like this...
While the elves were making sure
all the presents for the tittle girls
and boys were made. Tiny Tim was
at the sleigh making sure alt the
lights worked. While Tiny Tim was
sitting in the sleigh he thought of
an idea to destroy Christmas. Tiny
Tim was so jealous of Santa be-
cause everybody liked him and be-
cause he was so magical. He took
the sleigh and hid it behind the
shed hoping no-one would find it.
He went back inside and went to
the Toy Department where all the
toys were kept for all the little boys
and girls. The rest of the elves went
for lunch break and Tiny Tim
stayed there. He took all the
presents and hid them in Santa's
bedroom. Then he went to lunch.
After everyone had finished
lunch they went back to work in the
toy factory. Mistletoe got to the
factory first and saw that the toys
were gone. Mistletoe told everyone
to look all over to find the toys be-
cause there were only three days
left before Christmas. Holly found
the presents in Santa's bedroom.
Mistletoe quickly ran to the bed-
room hoping it wasn't true. When
he got there he couldn't believe his
eyes. The other elves saw Santa
coming down the hall. Santa want-
ed to know what all the commotion
was about. Misteltoe explained that
the toys had been missing and that
they were found in Santa's bed-
room. Santa was surprised. He said
he hadn't put the toys there. All the
elves wondered who did put them
there. The elves took the toys back
to the Toy Department and contin-
ued working on the rest.
The next day the toys were all
ready for Christmas Eve night but
they couldn't find the sleigh. They
knew something had gone wrong
and they had to tell Santa. Some
elves didn't want to because they
thought Santa had taken the toys to
his bedroom. But Mistletoe and a
few others went to Santa and excit-
edly told him the sleigh was miss-
ing. He told them to calm down and
to explain the problem. They said
that Tiny Tim was supposed 'o look
after the sleigh but now it was
missing. Holly said that Tiny Tim
was late for lunch one day; we
should go talk to him. So they did.
A few minutes later Holly and
Mistletoe were talking to Tiny Tim
and he finally admitted that he had
hidden the sleigh because he was
jealous of Santa. He was hoping
that everyone would be mad at San-
ta for destroying Christmas. Now
he was sorry for what he had done.
He asked everyone to forgive him.
All the elves hugged him and for-
gave him and became friends again.
They went back to Santa and told
him the whole story. Tiny Tim
showed them where the sleigh was
and that night Tiny Tim, Santa and
the reindeer had a wonderful time
delivering the toys to all the girls
and boys.
The Christmas Story
By Melissa Parkinson
McGillivray P.S., Grade 5
Jesus was bom in a stable in a
manger in Bethlehem. When Mary
was pregnant with Jesus they rode
on a donkey to Bethlehem. The an-
gels, shepherds, wisemen, animals,
Mary and Joseph gathered around
the manger.
The shepherds followed a bright
star which led them to Jesus. Wise -
men brought baby Jesus gold,
frankincense and myrrh. When Je-
sus got older he told everyone all
about God.
