LUCAN - Ed Sullivan will be in
town Friday evening as the produc-
tion of "The Ed Sullivan Show" by
the Holy Trinity Anglican Church

more, after two very successful
:shows this past spring.

will bring back the music, the fun
and the fascination of the Ed Sulli-
van era at a fundraising event orga-
nized to benefit the Canadian Dia-
betes Association.
Diabetes is a very common con-
dition affecting over one million
Canadians and dnfortunalely even
the most careful treatment is not a
cure. The proceeds of the evening
will support research, education,
and the general well being of dia-
betics and their families through
the efforts of the Canadian Dia-
betes Association. There are sever-
: al hundred adults and a large num-
•ber of children and young people in
.Lucan, Exeter and area who hope
that a cure will be in Woe for them!

ZURICH - Last Monday evening
the residents of Blue Water Rest
Home were entertained by mem-
bers of Exeter United Church for
'the October birthday party. Resi-
dents celebrating their birthdays
this month were Fern Love, Laura
Stewart, Sophie Mischke, Annie
Martin, Aaron Gingerich and Mary
Martin.
Laurie Shapton introduced her
young group of entertainers. Amy
Shapton tap danced and her mother
Diane joined in for a clogging
dance number. Dave Shapton and
sister Laurel played the piano. The
Prout sisters, Rebekah, Melissa,
Kerrie and Julie each played piano
solos. Angel food cake and ice
cream was served to the residents
by Hazel Westcort and members of
Exeter United Church. Home Auxi-
oliary members Margaret and Mary
(Calvin) Gingerich were kitchen
helpers.
Many residents gathered in the
auditorium Monday afternoon to
watch the movie "Old Yellar". One
resident over the age of 85 showed
some reluctance when asked if he'd
like to see the movie he stated -
-"Oh, I saw that movie when I was a
kid!" His taste buds may have
dwindled with time, but his memo-
ries linger on!
Last Tuesday evening members
of the Christian Reformed Church
visited the Home and entertained
the residents. Peter Visscher was
chairperson and read poems, one
with a Thanksgiving theme. Steven
Poortinga was pianist for the group
who .sang several favourite hymns
"Like a River Glorious, He is Lord,
How GreatThou Art, and There is
No God as Great as You are Lord."
Wednesday afternoon tea was
served with an autumn table ar-
rangement theme by Mary Ginge-
rich.

planned in Centralia
CEN'TRALIA - Beginning Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Saturday
morning at 6:00 am. there will be continuous prayer at the church. Hourly
prayer leaders for each of the 12 hours have been filled except for the hour
of 3:00-4:00 a.m. Although the prayer vigil is scheduled to begin on Fri-
day evening. the church will be open at 6:00 a.m. and Pastor Bob Degraw
has encouraged as many that can to come any time throughout the day to
join him Auld others in prayer. An open invitation is extended to everyone
to feel free to join in lifting the needs of this country and the community in
prayer. ,
Lost and Found Club will be held at the Centralia Community Centre ,
this week, as the Sunday School is hosting a Bible Costume Party from
7:00-8:00. Prizes for the best Bible costumes, games and treats are in
store!
Joining the congregation this Sunday are Morley and Gloria Bordes.
Volleyball on Friday night turned into Dodgeball and indoor soccer!
,'Ilrere will be no volleyball this week due to the Prayer Vigil.

with a wife.
Friday afternoon the residents en-
joyed watching a home -video of
Nelson Howe's-85th birthday party
held at the Home in late August
with the Brussels Plpe Band. Some
residents recognized themselves in
the video. The residents played the
game of bingo Friday afternoon un-
der the supervision of Ann
McBride, Hobby Room Convener
in the absence of Josef Risi, Ad-
ministrator who is enjoying the
snow falling on the alps in Switzer-
land. Some people just can't wait
for Canadian snow!
Sunday morning, members of Zu-
rich Mennonite Choir visited the
Home and sang hymns to the resi-
dents. Cathy Shantz played the pia-
no for the choral group under the
direction of Norma Granger. Many
of the residents requested their fa-
vourite hymn to be sung.
The residents look forward to
next week being busy; Thursday
the Zurich Nursery School dressed
for Hallowe'en and Sunday night
all the ghosts and goblins which by treats. So all you scary monsters
chance will visit the Horne for ",come on down".
