Industrial subdivision at GB Airport GRAND BEND - The Grand Bend Airport will soon be taking on a new look as a small-scale in- dustrial subdivision is proposed to be located on the property. The airport which now has a couple of tenants including the Bluewater Recycling Association, is located in Stephen Township about 2.5 miles south of Grand Bend. "The first proposal was 40 lots but they had to downsize it to meet the Ministry of the Environment guidelines. It's been well discussed for quite a while," said Stephen Township reeve Tom Tomes. It has been downsized to six lots but there are seven businesses which have already indicated their desire to move into the industrial subdivision. Once completed, the businesses could employ up to 32 people but no doubt dozens will be employed before that doing the 'actual con- struction. It's Times -Advocate, July 21,1993 page 3 Zurich tipping fees increase ZURICH - Village residents will be paying more to drop off their garbage at the municipal ,landfill. Zurich council approved a new tip- ping fees bylaw at last Tuesday's conned meeting. As a result Zurich will be charg- ing virtually identical upping fees as other local municipalities. This will include a $12 per cubic yard waste fee for commercial garbage packers. Residents will be charged $5 per trunkload of garbage. Items such as asphalt shingles will be charged double the usual rate. Old appliances, such as refrigera- tors, stoves, and water tanks, and old bed springs will be dumped at a cost of $10 each. Because Zurich has an agreement to use the Hay Township landfill site, the village's tipping fees had to be brought in line with what Hay charges its residents. Also, with other municipal landfills in the area increasing upping fee rates in an ef- fort to stay ahead of increasing landfill costs, no municipality wants to find itself the cheapest in the area - and thus attract commer- cial dumping from outside the mu- nicipality. r1' SMART CHOICE VALUE GUARANTEED Our Economy Line Good Quality - Low Price 1E2 Brand8 National Brand Quality at IGA prices.
