Imperials struggling, record slips to 14
EXETER - Lack of offence hurt
the Exeter fader Imperials
Thursday night as they. watched
their South Perth Men's Fastball
League record slip to 1-4.
After winning their season open-
er, the Imperials have now dropped
four in a row, including a 7-2 deci-
sion to the visiting Tavistock Ori-
oles Thursday night.
The Imperials, who lost 8-5 to
Sebringville Juniors last Monday,
will try and get back on the win-
ning track on Thursday when they
play host to the Mitchell Mets.
In Exeter, the Orioles got on the
board very early, scoring a pair of
runs in the top of the first inning
off of pitcher Jeremy Mason. A
leadoff walk to Paul Kalebleisch
and then with one out, base hits off
the bats of Dave Bailey, Tim
Yungblut and Brad Hendrich, saw
the Orioles up by a pair.
What proved to be the winning
run came in the top of the fourth
when, with two out, Dean Kauf-
man singled, and eventually scored
on Bailey's single. Tavistock added
two more in the fourth, one in the
fifth and another in the seventh.
Exeter got their first run in the
bottom of the fourth when leadoff
batter Kevin Lightfoot walked,
moved on Darren Neil's single and
scored when Dan Heywood was
aboard on a fielders' choice.
The Imperials had trouble all
night against Orioles' thrower Brad
Stiere as he allowed only two hits -
Dairen Neil's single, and in the
sixth, a Mike Neil double.
Juniors 8. Im p
One swing of the bat ended this
gauze as Sebringville Juniors catcih-
er Jody Eidt, a member of Canada's
Junior National team, ripped a
grandslam home run in the bottom
of the fourth inning.
Heywood, starting on the mound
for the visiting Imperials last Mon-
day night, walked Bentley Murray
and Brett Long plus an error which
put Darryl Eidt on, loaded the bas-
es.
Exeter held a 3-2 lead after three
complete innings as they got on the
board with three runs in the lop of
the second inning.
The rally saw base hits from third

baseman Kevin Windsor, Darren
Neil, Heywood, Bob Cornish and
