Hay -Zurich landfill agreement still unsigned
ZURICH - A landfill operating
agreernerit between Hay Township
and the Village of Zurich has yet to
be signed.
- The agreement would oversee the
sharing of costs and responsibilities
for the landfill which the township
purchased from private owners late
last year. The agreement's one
main disputed item, according to
Zurich council, is a clause to re-
solve potential disputes between
the municipalities over the landfill.
Zurich reeve Bob Fisher said he
prefers to see the agreement spell
out that unresolved disputes could
be settled by the Ontario Municipal
Board, a view which Hay council
doesn't share.
Fisher said he wants to see some
kind of mechanism to solve dis-
putes written into the agreement.
The good will of the present coun-
cils may not last forever.
