GRANTON - The Anglican parish bible study was
held on Thursday, April 8 at Mary Jefferies home
when the theme was True Liberation.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican Church on Facrer Sun-
day, the Rev. Stephen Emery celebrated the Holy Eu-
charist. Paul Acres assisted as server and Robert Par-
kinson read the lesson and led the prayers of the
people.
The message was about faith in God, faith that Christ
has risen and that He lives in you, not in outer space.
During -the children's focus, the meaning of Alleluia
was explained.
'Calvary's Love was sung in a solo by Lynda Hod-
gins.
An Easter garden, lilies and other flowers adomed
the church.
The parish Maundy Thursday evening service was
held at the St. Thomas' Anglican church and the Good
Friday evening service at St. Paul's church, Kirkton,
both led by the Rev. Stephen Emery.
At the Granton United Church on Easter Sunday, the
Sunrise service was held with the theme "He is Risen".
The greeters were Michael, Cathy and Taylor Jones.
The Scripture Drama was performed by Jennifer
Blake and Pastor Normalie Voakes.
Flowers in the sanctuary were from the funeral of
Marion Baiu 0f SL Marys.
The annuartlitakfast followed the service.
A Good Friday evening service was held at the Gran-
ton United Church led by Pastor Normalie Voakes.

Unit 3 met at Ruth Cook's home on Thursday eve-
ning, April 6.
Marion Thomson and Ruth presented the program on
thetrue meaning of Easter which is forgiveness and the

Kirkton #1 4-H Club
The Greasy Grinders 4-H Club got off to a good start
at their first meeting on March 29 which was held at
the home of Jim and Lynda Hodgins. The club project
is small engines and the leaders are Lynda Hodgins
and Dave Proudlove.
The first thing was to get to know each other and this
they did by giving their name, age and county. Then
they elected their executive as follows: President Scott
Hodgins, Vice president Ken French, secretary Jamie
White and press reporter Jeremy O'Shea.
Next, leader Dave Proudlove demonstrated taking a
small push mower engine apart. Plans were made for
the next meeting on April 5 when members will each
work on their own engines.

SHIPKA - The annual "Janzen"
family Easter gathering and dinner
was hosted this year by Annie and
Angie Zielman and held on Good
Friday with 47 attending. These in-
cluded Annie's own family, her sis-
ters, Helen Stadler, Susan Janzen
and Bill and Ellen Janzen, from
Leamington, sister Kaethe Freiter
and husband Erich from Dash-
wood, nieces, nephew and cousins.
Other family members came from
Kitchener, Essex, Exeter and Zu-
rich.
Don and Elizabeth Adams held
their Easter dinner on Good Friday,
with son Clark from Stratford, also
Dianne and Brock from London,
with Colin. Dean and Andrew Ad-
ams.
Congratulations to Ross and Vio-
let Brown of the Greenway area,
who celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary last Saturday, April
10th with an Open House at the
Royal Canadian Legion, Grand
Bend.
Best wishes to Les and Marjorie
Adams, of Exeter (former residents
of this area) who will observe their
62nd wedding anniversary this
week.
Jim and Lenore Orr, have re-
turned.to their home in this area af-
ter wintering in the south. In Febru-
ary, Lenore was back to Canada to
auend the funeral of her youngest
sister, Faye Brocke, of Katrine Sta-
tion.

this weekend was their daughter
Michelle, from Windsor and Mike
and Julia Vincent from Clinton.
Don, Sharon and Jamie Baker,
hosted an Easier supper Saturday
for the Baker family. Attending

GRAND BEND - The United Church Women met last Thursday after-
noon at the church.
Vera Rempel gave an inspiring
Luke 23:26-39, and read Simeon's
himself. Hymns "The Old Rugged
accompanied at piano by Irene Ken
Easter worship with scripture from St.
story of the crucification as outlined by
Cross' and "Abide with me" were sung,
nedy.
Five members attended the 31st
annual meeting ofLondon Conference
of United Church Women, held at St. Paul's United Church in Sarnia.
Giving their impressions and reports of the meeting were Irene Kennedy,
Bertie Keyes and Norma Carey.
President Lorten Gil chaired the business. The ladies had made and sold
over 500 turkeypies this past month.
A beautifully decorated Easter cake with bunnies entering their home
was made by Joan Love, which she and Marg Love served for lunch along
with ice cream.

Grand Bend United Church was packed for Easter Sunday service with
ushers bringing in extra chairs.
Pastor Cohn Stover's sermon topic was titled "Let's resume where we
left off,": with scriptures from Colossians 3:1-4 and Matthew 28:1-10. read
by Bette Tufts.
The children's hymn was "The Glory of our King". Pastor Colin's story
to the children was about the fourth R. He told them after re -use, re -duce
and recycle the fourth R stands for Ressurection.
As the offering was gathered, The Easter song, arranged by Rob Roy
Peery was played by organist Idella Gabel. Choral offering from the choir
was "Easter Carol."
Couple's Club meeting will be held Saturday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m.
