SHIPKA - The last euchre for
this season was held last Wednes-
day night at the Shipka Community
Centre. With nine tables in play the
winners were High lady - Marg
Baker; Low lady - Helen Sturde-
vent, Grand Bend; High man - Nola
Love, Grand Bend; Low man -
Ruth Sheppard, Parkhill; and Men's
Most lone hands - Mary McCann,
all won by ladies playing men's
cards. Most Ione hands for ladies
was won by Aileen Reveille of
Grand Bend.

Ferman and Leota Snyder spent
last weekend in London at their
daughter's Esther and Ric Storey,
Scott and Steven. The occasion was
attending a school banquet at the
private school Scott attends.
Congratulations to Joe Kaak Jr.
in another boxing win, recently,
over Mince Chandler of Alabama.
This week Kaak is in Bangkok,
Thailand, representing Canada in
an :international five country tour -

Staffs WI admire quilts

STAFFA - Hosted by Alice
Gardiner, the Malian Ritchie,
WMS meeting was preceded by a
variety of delicious pies, tea and
coffee. Mary Elliott presided,
opening with a reading followed
by a hymn with Jt reading followed
by a hymn with Betty Lou Norris
at the piano.
Peggy Kerslake rad Psalm 23,
and the meditation entitled My
Shepherd. Alice Gardiner showed
a video entitled Celebration of
Life, Betty Lou Norris, wearing a
green Irish hat played several Irish
numbers on the piano.
The meeting closed with a hymn
and the Lord's Prayer in unison.

Esther Smale hosted the Tweed-
smuir meeting of the Staffa Wom-
en's Institute, at her home on
Wednesday afternoon with 11
women present.
Guest speaker for the afternoon
was Isabel Annis, of Mitchell, who
spoke about "A Life of Quilting".
She told about her interest in quilts
and quilting, which began as a

generations of wedding quilts,
from her grandmothers to her
granddaughters.
During the business the 90th an-
niversary was discussed. Kay
Smale reported on the spring exec-
utive meeting, saying the District
Annual will be held in St. Pauls on
May l l th. The theme will be stand
up, speak out, be proud to be a
W.I. member.
Staffa is in charge of Pennies for
Friendship. 'Ilse annual meeting
will be held on April 14 at 1:30
p.m. in the township hall. Every-
one is to have their reports ready.
Joyce Miller adjourned the meet-
ing and lunch was served by Mar-
garet Daynard, Verle Mahon and
hostess Esther Smale. Following
lunch a silent auction was held to
raise some money for upcoming
events.
