Kids" Phone bowlat e n

By Ron Dann
ZURICH - The Zurich 5 Pin
Bowlers' Association has arranged
with Town and Country proprietors
Tony and Marlene Bedard. to hold
Kids Help Phone Community Day
Bowlathon at the lanes Sunday 1-5

The Canadian Children's Founda-
tion, after two years of research and
development, launched Kids Help
Phone in 1989. Since then the
Foundation's main focus has been
marketing and fundraising for Kids
Help Phone.
Kids Help Phone is Canada's only
national, bilingual, toll-free service
available to children. This anony-
mous telephone service currently
reaches out to over 1,200 kids daily
between the ages of five and 19.
Over 300,000 calls are expected in
1993 with another 500.000 unable
to get through due to lack of phone
lines and staff.
Kids Help Phone is a safe. non-
threatening way for children to get
help without the pressures of a
face-to-face meeting. The anonymi-
ty and confidentiality that Kids
Help Phone proviges are key bene-
fits which enable children to dis-
cuss issues they feel they can't dis-
cuss with anyone else. Kids Help
Phone counselors at 1-800-668-
6868 are there to listen and re-
spond.
