ble for the Stephen Township Fire Department to
purchase two airbags. From left: John Gunnes, le-
gion service officer; Bart DeVries, Legion Nevada
chair; Chris Christie, Code 4 Fire and Rescue Air
Bag Supplier; Bill Wilds, Legion second vice-
president; Dave McDonald, deputy fire chief; and
Larry Gibson, fire fighter. The two air bags will be
useful in extrication procedures such as rescuing
victims trapped beneath vehicles. The two air bags
(right) can accommodate weights of 30 tons and 14
tons.

A letter of thanks was read from
Joyce Preszcator for the donation to
her. Leone Brock reported several
quilts done and several more to do.
Olive Thomson reported on the
meeting in Sarnia March 29 and 30
with registration March 1. Mavis
Atthill reported World Day of
Prayer on March 5 with Janet Pap-
ple speaking. She also reported do-
nations of $300.00 each to Camp
Menesetung and Camp Bimini.
Smorgasbord will be May 6. The
,bazaar will be November 13. The
group donated $1426.88 to Mission
& Services of the church.

of five counties to receive funding
of $20,000 each from the • Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and Food
to develop a Community Services
and Information Directory, Paul
Klopp, MPP for 1-iuron and parlia-
mentary assistant to Minister of
Agriculture and Food, announced
Thursday on behalf of the Minister.
As part of the Ministry's support
for community economic develop-
ment, the Huron Community Ser.
vice Network will research infor-
mation .on the services, programs
and resources available to cdmmu-
nity residents and have all the infor-
mation collected, stored and main-
tained in one location in the county.
"Directories, like the one 10 be
created in Huron County. will help
people -in -the community aee where
their needs arc being met and
where {here arc shortages," said
Klopp.
Community members will be
able to purchase a hard copy of the
directory or, in the future. have po-
tential dial -in access by phone or
computer. The directory will assist
new members of the community
who want to be involved in com-
munity activities and could help en-
courage business and industry to lo-
cate in the community.
The Huron project is one of a se-
ries of pilot projects supported by
the Ontario govenunent to promote
community economic development
and contribute to the efforts of
communities to strengthen them-
selves and invest in long-term eco-
nomic renewal. These pilot projects
aim to encourage broader involve-
ment in community development
by including all partners in the pro-
cess.
"This project in Huron is a good
example of a successful partnership
between the province and local
governments aimed at developing a
stronger and co-ordinated approach
to community economic develop-
ment," Klopp said.
The other counties receiving
funding for a County Community
Services and Information Directory
are Perth, Kent. //nice and Grey.
