been meeting since 1989) the committee presented the proceeds from last year's celebration

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Jim All-
sop was in charge of the regular
church service on Sunday moming.
The Responsive reading was tak-
en from Psalm 27.
The choir sang "I Love Those
Dear Hearts," accompanied by or-
ganist Erin Kraftcheck.
The congregation sang the chil-
dren's hymn "Jesus, Friend of Little
Children" and Rev. Allsop told the
children a story "We are all Chris-
tians on the inside, but very differ-
ent on the outside."
Rev. Allsop read the Scripture
Lesson Micah 6:1-8, I Corinthians
1:18-31, Gospel of Matthew 5:1-
12. The title of his sermon "The
Beatitudes Verses Societal Values".

Men's Breakfast will be held Sat-
urday, March 6 at 8:30 a.m. at
Thames Road Church. Norman
Holbrook, a United Church Agri-
cultural Missionary in Nepal, will
be the guest speaker.
Annual meeting

tended the smorgasbord potluck
dinner. Rev. Allsop opened the an-
nual meeting with a prayer and sev-
eral verses from the book of Phile-
mon and a meditation.
Rev. Allsop was elected as chaii •
man and Judith Parker as secretary.
Ali reports were well received.
The legacy that the late Ray Cot-
tle left Thames Road was dis-
cussed. The next meeting of the Fu-
ture of Rural United Churches will
be held on Monday, March 8 at P
p.m. at Thames Road Church.

ed at the Hooper -Hockey Funeral
Horne to pay their respect to Elsie
Shute. Sympathy from the commu-
nity is extended to her family.

-uncle. Swart Shier at the L.A. Ball
Funeral Chapel, St. Marys on Sat-

euchre game last Wednesday night
at the Legion.
With seven tables in action, win-
ners were: Ladies high - Madeline
Dalton; Ladies low was a tie be-
tween Eileen Higgins and Ma Die-
trich; Ladies moo lone bands was a
tie with three each for Edda Adams
and Beriie Keyes.
The men's prizes were all won by
women playing men's cards. Men's
high - Jean Dann, Men's low - Nola
Lave, Men's lone hands a tie be-
tween Olive Webb and Alden
Wolfe.

Children learn of God's love

SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's cel-
ebrated the service of Morning
Prayer at 11:00 a.m., January 31.
Rev. Stephen Emery spoke to the
children on God's love encircling
each of them and how he loves us
just as we are. May Jefferies read
the scripture. Thank you to Mary
Kooy who provided the music for
the service. Coffee, juice and good-
ies followed the service in the par-
ish hall provided by the Cunning-
ham and Davis families.
On Tuesday, February 9, St. Pat-
rick's A.C.W. will hold their meet-
ing at the home of Mabel Needham
with Rose Cunningham assisting
the hostess. Mary Jefferies and Na-
dene Bedell will be program lead-
ers.
St. Patrick's V. :r., was held last
week at the Davis's. The meeting
opened with a payer by Rev. Em-
ery. Margaret Carroll, vestry clerk,
read the minutes of the last meeting
and was elected as clerk again for •
1993. Reports were read and adopt-
ed. Wayne Carroll was nominated
People's Warden and Margaret Car-
roll asked to be Rectors Warden.
Delegates to Synod and Board
members remain the same as last
year with the addition of Heather
MacGillivray and Arnold Cunning-
ham to the board.
The meeting closed with prayer
