One is at St. Bonlfaoe Church hall (downstairs) from 10-3 p.m. and the other is at the Zurich Public School gym from 10-2 p.m. spon- sored by the Bean Sprouts Nursery $chool. Haunted House Congratulations on a job well done to the St. Boniface Youth Group and leaders Marg Gingerich and Fr. Hayes who put on a terrific and scary "Haunted House" on Sun- day, which was a big success. Harvest dance Don't forget to attend the Knights of Columbus Harvest Dance to be held at the Zurich Community Cen- tre this Saturday from 9-1 p.m. Get your tickets from Don Beauchamp at 236-4687 or at the door S6 per person, which includes lunch. CWL A very interesting C.W.L. region- al deanery meeting was held last Wednesday in Woodstock at the Quality Inn. The day's theme was "People of the Land". The day -long meeting was chaired by Diocesan President Theresa Loebach. Various conveners gave their re- ports and the special speaker was Mickey Murphy of the Catholic Rural Life Conference Committee. Those attending from St. Peter's C.W.L. were president Mary Du- charme and Cheryl Durand along with St. Boniface numbers C.W.L. president Audrey Smith, and Coby VandenBoomen, Annie Van Rally and Carmel Sweeney. Zurich Lions Special speaker for the October 29 Lions Club meeting was O.P.P. Constable George Finch who is a breathalizer co-ordinator, talking on Alcohol Awareness. Plans are being made for the Li- ons annual stag and elimination draw that will be held at the Zurich arena on Friday, November 20. Tickets are now on sale at S10 each at J&L Variety Store. The club will be delivering phone books to Zurich addresses in No- vember. The Santa Claus Day will be held at the arena on Saturday, December 19. The next Lions meeting will be on November 16 with the official visit of zone chairman Lion John Siertsema from Bayfield. Bean festival An appreciation dinner is being held at the Dominion Tavern on Sunday, November 15 for all those who helped at the Bean Festival last August. The complimentary meal is being sponsored by the Bean Festival Committee as their way of saying thanks. If attending please make reserva- tions at the bank no later than No- vember 6. Zurich Senior Diners By Gertie Fkischauer ZURICH - Zurich Senior Diners met last Wednesday at the Com- munity Centre which was decorat- ed in a Hallowe'en theme. The din- ers were meted at the door by Tammy Antaya dressed as a pump- kin, Margaret Hess as Pinochio, Ina Neeb as an Indian. Berdie Finkbeiner as a Blue Jay player, and Gertie Fleishauer as a Witch. Each participant received a pumpkin as as prize, while 1st prize was won by Gertie Fleis- chauer. Tammy Antaya welcomed all diners and informed them of up coming events. Tony Denomme won the 50/50 draw. Happy birthday was sung for diners having birthdays and anni- versaries in October. Gerry Kane read the Hallowe'en Poem "Bob- bing Apples". Bingo was played with .prizes going to the lucky winners. Solo and euchre followed. Zurich Senior Diners are inviting the public to a Remembrance Day service at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday November 11 at the Zurich Com- munity Centre. Grand Bend anniversary GRAND BEND - The sixty-sixth - anniversary services were celebrat- ed Sunday at Grand Bend United Church. Guest minister was Rev. Maurice Plaits, of London, with sermon topic "What it all boils down to". Scriptures from MaUbew 6:1-21, were read by Ann Russell. Theme of the children's story was "The Communion of Saints" dem- onstrated by Pastor Stover with a globe of the world. Children's hymn was "He's got the whole world in his hands". Special music today was per- formed by Johnny Bond, of Sarnia, on vibraphone, Clarence Brodhag- en with trumpet and flugelhorn, and Norm Tufts, at piano and compos- er, both of Grand Bend. Their musical offerings were "Fa- ther Forgive Them", "Where have you taken Him", "Jesus my Savior" and "That Glorious Day". Joy Hogg returned home on Oc- tober 29 after a two week holiday visiting with her mother in Winni- peg and a sister in Texas. In place of a buck and doe for en- gaged couple Charlene Regier and Andy Grainger, a volleyball tourna- ment was held recently in their hon- our with 16 teams participating made up of friends and relatives at the Zurich arena This past Friday a bridal shower was held for Charlene at the Men- nonite church fellowship Hall on October 30. Next week November 3 a party is being planned at the Mennonite Hall for Andy by his friends. Charlene is the daughter of Karl and Mary Regier, Zurich and Andy is the son of Jim and Norma Grainger on the Bluewater high- way.
