Shc brought home three first place finishes, winning the 100 metres, the long jump and the Angle_ttiMp. Mt. Carmel had several ath1e s who excelled including Jeff G. vin who was first in the 800 me- tres and third in the 1,500 metres. Jackie Geurts brought home a first to the 400 metres and Janet Carey was second in the 200 me- tres and -third inthe 400 metres. Jennifer Morley was second in the long jump, Brian Harrigan was third in the 100 metres and Namgan, Adrian Roelands, Rob- ert Sandwith and Brent Glavin combined to take second in the junior boys relay. Heading into tonight's game in Centralia, Exeter has scored 206 runs while allowing just 60. London wins EXETER - London Fairmont finished fust at the Exeter Legion sponsored men's pairs lawn bowl- ing tournament on Wednesday. Held at the Exeter Lawn Bowl- ing Club, Stratford took second while London Elmwood finished third. Teams came from three dif- ferent clubs in London as well as Port Stanley, Seaforth, Mitchell, St. Mary's Stratford and Exeter. The next tournament to be held' in Exeter will be Sunday, July 5 at 1:30 p.m. when National Trust will host a ladies and men's pair's event. Spectators are welcome. Basketball camp HURON PARK - The Forest City Ramblers of London will be hosting the U.S. Midwest Camp of Champs at Centralia College in Huron Park from July 5 - 9 for girls ages 8 to 18. Registration is $100 for the shooting camp which is July 5 and 6 while the individual camp is from July 6-9 at a cost of $325 which includes meals and accom- modations. The Shooting Camp will be di- rected by Dr. Tony Pappas of Iowa and the individual camp will be directed by Paul James and Gary Altman, also from Iowa. Players which have been trained by these coaches have gone on to the All-American level. Also attending the camp as a coach will be Molly Goodenbour a point guard from Stanford Univer- sity which won the women's NCAA championship. Still with Stars EXETER - Despite being a re- stricted free agent, defenseman Dave Shaw of the Minnesota North Stars was not put on the un- protected list by the National Hockey League team. Shaw, a veteran blueliner, now with his fourth NHL team, was not put on the list which saw the Tam- pa Bay Lifghtning and the Ottawa Senators pick teams by way of an entry draft. Celebrity roast GRAND BEND - Peter Wid- drington, Chairman of the Toronto Blue Jays will be the victim of a celebrity roast on Friday at the Oakwood Inn near Grand Bend. The event is being hosted by the Grand Bend Rotary Club as a fundraiser. Funds will go to the construction of a new elevator at the South Huron District High School. Among the celebrities expected are former Ontario Premier David Peterson and Bill Brady, vice- president of Blackburn Communi- cations Systems Radio who is the Master ofCeremoniesfor the eve- ning. Hardball clinic EXETER - Steve Merrier, Tech- nical Director of the Exeter Minor Baseball Association will be the head instructor for a baseball clinic in Exeter on Saturday. Beginning at 9 a.m. boys and girls will be given some helpful hints on pitching and infielding drills.The next clinic is scheduled for July 11. Special guest LONDON - Jennifer Haskeu of Lucan was the special guest at Sat- urday night's London Tigers East- ern League baseball game with the Canton -Akron Indians. Haskett joined' fellow Lucan na- tive and pitcher Mike Lumley on the mound before the game which was a fundraiser for the London and District Branch of the Canadi- an Diabetes Association. Almost $500 was raised at the 4th Annual Event and money raised will go to the parents group who sponsor events for children and teenagers all year long.
