Local rider captures first in New York BATAVIA, NEW YORK - Four- teen -year-old Lisa Bean of Exeter had a very successful weekend re- cently, finishing tops in her class at the Arabian Horse Eastern Classic in Batavia, New York. Bean captured first place in three classes with one horse and also managed a first and second place showing with yet another. Aboard Brandale Hint Kassaul (Matawny), Bean took first place in the following classes: Purebred Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse; Hunter Pleasure Junior to Ride; and Huntseat Equitation 17 and Under. In addition, in the Purebred Hunter Pleasure Amateur Owner To Ride Championship class the pair was named Reserve Champion. Bean's second horse, Blue Rib- bonchaser won Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Gelding in the halter classes and placed second in Purebred Country English Pleasure. Bean is assisted in her training by Adriaan Brand, Brandale Arabians in Crediton.
