ZURICH - Residents are still
transplanting flowers and vegeta-
bles and hopefully the time will
come when they can be transplant-
ed outdoors. However, there will
probably be some left over for sale
when the Mother's Day tea and
bake sale is held on Saturday, May
9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please re-
serve this date on your calendar.
The April Auiidiir)t'ly'd
meeting was held on Tuesday eve-
ning. Two Easter poems were read
by Ann Flaxbard, and residents
were very impressed by the Zurich
adult Mennonite choir under the di-
rection of Rev. Paul Brunner. Pinto
solos were rendered by Catherine
Shantz. Refreshments followed.

VARNA - Twenty-three mem-
bers of. Stan -Lee Club met at the
Complex -on April 1. President
Anna Keys opened the meeting by
reading a story of how -in early days
spring was the time for farm auc-
tions. In one community a 4-H
group with the help of local ladies
would have a lunch booth. The
main item on the menu was potato
pancakes. A great deal of prepara-
tion was involved. When the aroma
of pancakes being cooked wafted
over the crowd the auctioneer de-
clared a lunch break.
A letter was received from the
Zurich Diners club inviting anyone
interested to attend their dinner
each Wednesday at noon. If inter-
ested call Birdie Finkbeiner on the
Monday prior to the dinner to buy a
ticket which.can be paid for at the
door.
The Zone Rally -will =be held 'in
the Legion Hall in Goderich on
April 28. Registration is from 9:30-
10 a.m. Keys closed this part of the
meeting with an Easter poem.
Several games of Court Whist
were played. Winners were Doro-'
thy Ostrom, George Phillips, Mar-
garet Armstrong and Bruce Keys.
Lunch brought the evening to a
ciosc.
Upcoming events
Another successful Annual Des-
sert -Euchre -sponsored by the Varna
U.C.W. ;had 15 tables of cards in
play—Dessert was enjoyed by all.
Floyd McAsh played several num-
bers on the piano while everyone
came in and had dessert.
Reta Baird took high prize for eu-
chre, Helen Taylor took low and
Wilma McMichael had the most
lone hands.
Door prizes went to Annie Reid,
