Ministry of Revenue number of admissions for the sea- son, which concluded November 10, was 479,273 for theatre perfor- mances, off five percent from 504,477 admissions in 1990. "The reduction in admissions from 1990 to 1991 reflected the dif- ficult economy experienced during the past year" said the Festival's General Manager, Gary Thomas. "There is no question that the pro- ductions presented in the 1991 sea- son were highly regarded by our audiences and the critics alike, so that, although the outcome is down from the previous year, it is a good result in the economic circumstanc- es. It also should be remembered --- that the Festival absorbed the im- pact of the Goods and Services Tax in its ticket prices in 1991." The gross box office revenue fig- ure was $15.4 million. All figures reported are net of the Goods and Services Tax. The 1991 season opened May 27 (student and senior performances and previews began April 29).
