Outgoing reeve
concerned about future
GRAND BEND - Concerned
about the future, Grand Bend
reeve Bruce Woodley wished
his successors all the best.
Chairing his final session of
council Monday night, Wood-
ley, who steps down and will be
replaced by Tom Lawson, said
the country is facing tough
times.
"It's going to be a very diffi-
cult time in the future," said
oodle
• "Our province, if not our
country, is in serious shape and
that will reflect on the munici-
palities."
A member of the Lambton
County children's Aid Society,
Woodley said that group is half
a million dollars in debt because
of high unemployment.
"I don't envy anyone in gov-
ernment," said Woodley.
He said he will seek re-
election in the future and has
been asked by members of the
new council to sit on some com-
mittees.
Councillor Dennis Snider who
did not run in the recent election
said, as he has in the past, that
the village is changing in a big
way.
"Grand Bend is going to have
to assess who it is, where its go-
ing and how its going to get
there. It can'Lb8 _ evgrything to
all people."
Snider said there are not
enough taxpayers in the village
to pay for the maintenance of
the popular summer hot spot.
Councillor Bill Uniac who
came on mid -way through the
term as a replacement which
saw Woodley become reeve for
the resigning Bob Sharen, said
he got a rude awakening at the
amount of work he had to do.
