Tuesday night darts continues to
draw larger crowds than last year,
according to organizers. An aver-
age gorup last year would number
about 30, but this year nearly 50
show up each Tuesday. They're go-
ing to need more walls and equip-
ment soon, or create longer line-
ups!
Jean Allison and George Roberts
won first place, with Marie Richard
and Norm Weitzel taking second.
Pat Hoffman won Ladies High
score with 118 and Lou Hamilton
won the 50/50 draw.
Winners of the Friday Meat Raf-
fle were: Herb Turlcheim, Ed
Cbamlteilain, Betty Price, Jeff
Mohring and Janet Chambers. The
Mystery Prize Winner was Heather
Gibbons.

The ladies of the Grand Bend
Women's Institute met on Thurs-
day, November 21 at 1:30 p.m.
President Donna Lovie opened the
meeting with the Institute Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect. The roll
call "the advantage of being the age
1 am now" elicited a wide variety of
responses from the members, some
quite amusing.
Nola Taylor and Donna Lovie
gave brief reports on the Fall Board
meeting. A committee was called to
make a list of five articles on "hon-
ey" to be included in the W.I. ex-
hibit for the fall fairs. Doris Bestard
read a humorous poem "65 and
Counting" and then introduced the
guest speaker, Helen Sturdevant.
Sturdevant, an avid exercise en-
thusiast, gave a very witty and in-
formative talk on "Growing 01d
l
Gracefully". She reminded the au-
dience that they should keep active-
ly involved in local activities, such
as exercise programs, swimming,
walking and games. Many never
take the chance to do this. We
should try to keep an optimistic
outlook on life. The important thing
is not how long we live but rather
how well we live. Loneliness and
depression often haunt seniors, but
if we have many happy and treas-
ured memories stored away then
we can reflect on these to restore
happiness to our lives.
Lack of instant recall is a sign of
aging but this can be greatly im-
proved if older people are mentally
and physically active, involved in
the happenings of their community.
Sturdevant encouraged members to
participate in several local pro-
grams, like "Activity and Aging".
Doris Bestard thanked their guest
and presented her with a small gift
of appreciation.
