LUCAN - If ever the Exeter
Hawks needed ashot of confi-
dence, theygotit Wednesday night
in Lucan against the Irish. With a
new work ethic injected into their
system, the Hawks looked impres-
sive m a 7-5 victory, dealing Lucan
their first loss of the regular season
in OHA Development (Junior 'D)
action.
"It started last weekend against
Lambeth," said coach John Ker -
nick. "I felt we probably played
our best game of the season, but we
only played two periods. Tonight
we came to play all three."
Rookie Shayne Robinson paced
the attack with a hatrick, and
seemed to inspire the troops. Ja-
mie Cornish played a strong game
on defense and centre Mark Reid
,had probably his best game of the
season."Shayne and Reider both played
very well tonight," said Kernick.
"But there was a lot of second ef-
fort from everyone."

creased their lead to tRbhison completed his hatrick.
The Hawks kept the pressure on
and finally put the game out of
reh when Dalrymple fed Manders
for a breakaway. Manders made a
nice move on Lucan netminder
Mark Dunn, flipping the puck high
into the top left comer.
Scott Amos of the Irish added a
goal with one second remaining on
the clock to make it closer.
After the game, coach Kenrick
said he felt good about knocking
off the league leading Irish, but
warned his players about becoming
overconfident.
"Sure we beat them, but you have
tofiguretheothersideofthecoin
too; said Kernick. "'they (Lucan)
may have just had an offnight."
Andrew Barton, Ray Cousineau
and Dalrymple rounded out the
scoring for Exeter while Steve Mat-

ILDERTON - Scott Riddell had one of his best games of the season as
the Lucan forward scored two goals and set up two more in an 8-3 win
over the Alvinston Flyers here Saturday night.
The game OHA Development (Junior D') game was played in Ilderton
as a fund raiser for that village's minor hockey association.
Greg DePrest and Paul O'Shea had two goals as the Irish ran their record
to 9-1-2. The Irish host Lambeth Lancers tonight and on Friday travel to
Mitchell.
Also scoring against the Flyers were Ed VanKerltoerle and Jon McEach-
ern.

Josh Symons made 29 saves as the Hawks handled the Lakers 5-2 for
their second win on the week.
Providing the offence for Exeter was Ray Cousineau with two goals and
a couple of assists while Andrew Barton, Dave Dalrymple and Doug Clark
also scored.
Barton and Jamie Cornish were both ejected for fighting in the third pe-
riod. Exeter now 7-8-0 in the west division, host Belmont on Friday and
travel to Mt. Brydges on Saturday. __
Despite the Intense rivalry which has long been a tradition
between the Exeter Hawks and Lucan Irish, players still take
time to display a little sportsmanship. Following Wednes-
day's game, Exeter netminder Clint McCann (left), took time
to talk with Lucan's Paul Woodbum and Greg Muir.

side.
The only major penalty was
against the Hawks and came with
1:15 remaining. Captain Allan
Blommaert was ejected with a 10 -
minute misconduct, after he
smacked his stick against the glass

I've said it before, but it
bears repeating, "Knowl-

Someone else .said, "If no

Which amounts to about the
same thing.
