Concerns raised
over education
for Catholic
school teachers
DUBLIN - Chairman of the Huron -Perth County Roman Catholic Sep-
arate School Board Bernard Murray expressed his concerns ova the pos-
sible shortage of Catholic teachers, during the recent October board meet-
ing.
In a verbal report, Murray also addressed the issue regarding entrance
requirements to faculties of educating', which depend solely upon academ-
ic achievement. He suggested a recommendation be made to the Ministry
of Education, and outlined various guidelines.
The recommendation urges a program to be developed and implement-
ed at the faculties of education in Ontario uaivasities. to prepare Roman
Catholic teachers to teach religious education in Raman Catholic Schools.
In addition, it was suggested that religious education be recognized as a
subject in which teachers may obtain teacher qualifications, and also that
representatives of school boards be involved in the process of determin-
ing entrance criteria and selection procedures, for applicants to faculties
of education in Ontario universities.

ZURICH - Residents have been
very busy for the last two weeks.
The pot luck dinner provided by the
staff which included every food im-
aginable seemed to tickle the fan-
cies of the residents' palates. The
program was so comical that resi-
dents talked about it for days.
