THAMES ROAD - Worship ser-
vice with Communion will be held
at the Exeter Villa on Wednesday
September 25, 2:30 and 3 p.m with
the Elimville ladies assisting. A
session meeting will be held at the
manse the same evening at 8 p.m.
The Elimville UCW will be meet-
ing at 8 p.m. on September 25.
The first meeting of the Sun-
beams will be held on Octoberl at
9:30 a.m. at the Thames Road
Church.
World Wide Communion will be
observed at both churches on Sun-
day October 6.
Monday October 7 the United
Church Women's meeting will be
held at 8 p.m.
On Wednesday October 9 at 8
p.m. the official board meeting of
the church will be held at the Elim-
ville Church; session, board of
managers, Sunday School superin-
tendent and any, interested persons
are invited to attend.
Church service
Rev. Sheila Macgregor was in
charge of the 18th Sunday after
Pentecost Service on Sunday. Janis
Richardson read the minute for
missions entitled "A Decade of
New Beginnings." The congrega-
tion sang the children's hymn "The
Wise May Bring Their Learning"
and Rev. Macgregor told the chil-
dren their story, The Canada
Goose. The scriptures were James
3:13-18 and Mark 9:30-37.
The choir sang Saviour Like A
Shepherd accompanied by the or-
ganist Agnes Bray.

Hibbert United Church Women
resume their fall program

STAFFA - Hibbert United
Church Women, resumed their pro-
gramme, after a safe and happy
summer break. Another session
dealing with, Gospel, Culture and
Media was led by Elaine Colqu-
houn and Margaret Kemp.
The opening hymn Teach me
Lord to Wonder was followed by
Psalm 124 and 125 with commen-
tary by Colquhoun.
Groups were formed to consider
prepared questions. The response
from the groups resulted in a
worthwhile discussion about our
values and how they were estab-
lished, one's culture and how pri-
vate and tender it remains, the me-
dia and its many forms, benefits
and limitations.
Following 0 Day of God Draw
Nigh the service closed with scrip-
ture Phil: 4:8-9.
Gwen Christie chaired the busi-
ness meeting. In the absence of the
secretary, Mary F. Dow assumed
the role, handling the minutes and
correspondence.
The Regional Rally will take
place in St. Marys United Church
on October 30.
The October meeting of the Hib-
bert United Church women will
-take the form of a coffee hour on
October 9 at 10 a.m. under the
leadership of Doris Jeffery and
Irene Finlayson, with Margaret
Christie Esther Smale and Bernice
Norris as hostesses. Join us there!
Walk for homeless
A very enthusiastic group of
walkers, headed out from the
South Hibbert Ball park on Sunday
morning, to walls the five mile
block, raising money for the poor
and homeless in Ontario and Ethio-
pia. To begin the day, a 9 a.m. out-
door worship service in the park,
with Rev. Lucie Milne in charge
got everyone off to a good start.
Mary F. Dow accompanied the
hymns and a solo by Hazel Sadler,
Sault Ste. Marie.
Safety for the walk was well
looked after by the managers and
Sebringville based OPP. On their
return the walkers enjoyed a sau-
sage and pan cake breakfast pre-
pared by the 1st Cromarty Cubs
and Scouts.
Personals
The Twin City Bombers partici-
pated in a slopitch gall tournament
in Niagara Falls on the weekend.
Frank and Marion Miller cele-
brated their 40th weddin* anniver-
sary on Saturday evening, with
family and friends joining them for
dinner in Exeter and returning to
their home for the evening.
Ron, Gretta, Christine and Adam
Miller attended the wedding of
Gretta's brother Ray in Toronto on
the weekend.
John and Roberta Templeman
were guests at the Ische-Huitema
wedding in Sebringville on Satur-
day. Also attending the reception
were Rob and Bev Templeman,
Terry Templeman, Mike and Mary
Jane Parsons, Hank and Nancy
Bertens, Foliation, Scott and Barb
Bonikowsky and Don and Darlene
Ellison, Exeter.
Hazel Sadler, Sault Ste. Marie,
visited for a few days with relatives
and friends in the Staffa and attend-
ed the Hamilton family reunion on
Sunday afternoon hosted by Frank
and Claudette Elliott at their home.
Pat and Joanne Donavan Val D'or
Quebec visited on the weekend
with the J. Templeman family. All
family members attended the Mill-
er -Del Chiaro wedding and recep-
tion in Stratford Saturday.
Many from the community were
guests at the Miller -Del Chiaro re-
ception on Saturday evening at the
Country Club, Stratford.
