Everyone welcome:- Youth elcome: Youth dance to be hektFriday evening By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - The Zurich Optimist Club is again sponsoring a youth dance in the Zurich Public School gym. The dance will be held Fri- day, September 27 from 7-10 p.m. for the ages of 11-15. The cost is $3 per person at the door. Music will be supplied by Hook's Party Sound. Youth clubs register Registration was held this week for cubs, beavers and scouts. If any boys are still interested, they should call Doug DeBus at 236-4419. Volunteer helpers and leaders are needed for various packs or to help on group committees. Cubs will begin Monday, Sep- tember 30 at 7 p.m. for boys 8-10 at St. Boniface School. Scouts will also start this night for boys 11-14 at 7 p.m. in the Zurich Public School gym. Beavers will begin Tuesday, October 1 for boys 5-7 in the Zurich Public School at 7 p.m. Brownies will be led this year by Deb Overholt and Julie Becker. Leaf pick-up Special dates for leaf pick-up have been set for the Monday morning of October 7, 21 and No- vember 4. 25th annual dinner and dance Those planning to attend the 25th annual dinner and dance at the Blue Water Rest Home held Saturday, October 5 at the Zurich Arena should be sure to get their tickets this week. They are available at the Bank of Montreal and cost is $15 per person. Queen of the Fahr Aimee Celinas, 1991 Ambassa- dor of the Zurich_Fau wok part in the Lucinow Agriculture Fall Fair Queen Competition Saturday. Eighteen other contestants from various rural communities also competed. Collingwood trip Forty-three seniors enjoyed a bus trip to the Collingwood area on Sat- urday, organized by Doug Erb. Ski -lift rides, shopping for Blue Mountain Pottery, candle making and the touring of apple orchards were all enjoyed. Senior diners The Zurich Senior Diners met Wednesday evening at the commu- nity centre. A moments• silence was observed for Margaret Kalb- fleisch who passed away Wednes- day morning. Gwen McKeller read a poem as did Gertie Fleischauer. Ina Neeb told some humorous jokes and the entire group was treated to singing by Harriett VanderBurgt and Dianne Miller. Personals Congratulations to Margaret Hess on her 90th birthday Tuesday. The ladies in her card group got togeth- i er Monday evening at the township hall where they enjoyed games of crokinole and euchre. An open house will be held in Hess' honour at the Lutheran Church fellowship hall from 2-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. Birthday wishes to Earl Flaxbard, Dorothy Breakey, Amy Wildfong, Marja Eilers, Beth Sweeney and Lloyd Smith. A surprise birthday party was held for Brent O'Brien on Saturday at the Dominion Tavern. The party was organized by brother Jeff and his sister Pam Bedour. Many in this area attended a day at the International Plowing Match at Petrolia last week. Recent visitors with Hugh and Annie Morenz were Lydia and Bill Jeffery, of Stratford area, accompa- nied by their nephew, Earl Stephen. A great parade and many exhibits were on display at Exeter fair. Hugh Morenz's sister Hazel Corbett won the Baking Queen crown for the second consecutive year. Abbey and Wilma Erb returned home after a three-week vacation at their trailer in Pensylvania. They attended a family reunion and trav- elled to Petrolia to take Erb's moth- er to the plowing match. Kevin Dietrich is presently home to visit his parents, Harold and Do- reen. He has been working for the past three years in England and will journey to Australia after his visit.
