EXETER - The Exeter Molting
Hawks won two games and lost
another in oldtimers hockey action
last week.
They opened with a 9-3 loss at
the hands of the Bridgestone
Blades on goals by Ron Moore,
Bob Jones and Bob Parsons. Bob
McDonald, Brian Hodgins, Randy
Gilfillan assisted.
Exeter tumed things around and
got back on the winning side of
things with an 8-5 win over the
London Relics. McDonald and
Parsons led the offence with two
goals each with singles to Ron
Moore, Ernie Ahrens, Ken Berg-
mann and Jack Chipchase. Ahrens
and Moore each had three assists
for a big night. Walt Tiedeman,
Bob McDonald, Parsons and Berg-
mann assisted
Bergmann and Gilfillan each net-
ted hat tricks in a 9-6 win over Zu-
rich Has -Beans. Tiedeman, McDo-
nald and Jones also scored for
Exeter. Jones and Hodgins had two
assists each. .
Also assisting on the goals were
Bergmann, Tiedeman, Parsons, Ah-
rens, Eric Finkbeiner, Scott Burton,
Chipchase and Al Flynn.
This week the Molting Hawks
take on London Old Tractor and
travel to Lucan for the Classics
tournament on the weekend.

EXETER - Seven members of
Tyndall's Karate School were re-
warded for all their hard work re-
cently, receiving their white and
orange belts.
Advancing from white to yellow,
which is the first grading, are
Chris Markson, Bill Sanders,
Drew Atthill, Paul Hem and Andy
Markson.
"It's their first achievement, a lot
of people don't make it to yellow
belt," said Sensei Dan Bell.
"It's their fust accomplishment,
They've done it on their own and
no one's done it for them. It's a
great feeling."
Bell said there were several emo-
tional moments at the special grad-
ing ceremony held March 14 at the
South Huron Recreation Centre in
Exeter.
"The parents think it's great.
They were proud of them," said
Bell.
said Bell. "It's a very physical,
stressful time."
The karate program is just one of
many being offered to the communi-
ty by the South Huron Recreation
Centre and those wishing to registar
for the next eight-week karate pro-
gram can do so at the rec centre.

Doing the grading was a strict
panel of black belts; Bruce Hender-
son, Brian Decker, Bell and second-
degree black belt Ron Tyndall.
To receive their first colored belt,
students had to learn all their basic
stances, one kata and five self de-
fences.
Moving up from yellow to orange
belt, which is the second grading,
are Kendra Fenwick and Fred Eld-
er.
"They have to know three katas,
15 self defences plus their basics,"
