Golden Glimpses
Blue Water Rest Home
ZURICH - A tea was held on
Thursday afternoon in the auditcd-
wn for residents and any visitors.
We appreciate having Gladys
Gin$erich drop in to help with the
serving, now that she has retired
from the Dietary Staff, and resi-
dents are pleased to see her again.
A video was shown on Thursday
evening entitled Fiddlavile which j
described how the Fiddler's Contest
originated in Shelbourpe. Many
residents got a great deal of enjoy-
ment from it and are indebted to
Nelson Howe for providing the vid-
eo.
Bingo was enjoyed on Friday
evening followed by refreshments.
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Rev. Doug-
las Wright of Hensall United
Church. We sincerely appreciate
the effort of the Hensall choir who
participated accompanied by the or-
ganist, Debbie Wood. At the close
of the service, Clare Reith ex-
pressed appreciation on behalf of
the residents present for the uplift-
ing service.

Plans for Easter underway
THAMES ROAD - Meeting of
the Membership Roll Committee
met at the manse at 8 p.m. on
Wednesday; March 13.
The Youth Group will meet at the
Elimville United Church at 5:30
p.m. on Thursday, March 21.
The church and communion ser-
vice will be held at 8 p.m. on Good
Friday (March 29) at Thames Road
Church.
The regular service will be held
on Easter Sunday at Elimville at 10
a.m. and Thames Road at 11:15
a.m.
Easter lilies may be placed in the
sanctuary of the church. Please let
Sharon Passmore know who the lil-
ies are placed in memory of, ahead
of time.
Church service
The fourth Sunday of Lent - Re-
joice Sunday. The church service
was conducted by Reverend Sheila
Macgregor and the seasonal colour
is pink.

liturger of was led by Rev.
Macgregor and readers and lighters
were Kay Cunnington, Leona Cot-
tle, Doris Elford and Beatrice Daw-
son.
The congregation sang the chil-
dren's hymn God sees the little
sparrow fall and Rev. Macgregor
gave the children's message Kelly
the Caterpillar.
Rev. Macgregor was in charge of
the dedication of New Hymn Book
(songs for a gospel people given by
the Thames Road United Church
Women).
U.C.W. president Janis Richard-
son said a few words.
The choir and congregation sang
Part of a family accompanied by or-
ganist Agnes Bray. Rev. Macgregor
read 2 Chronicles 36: 11-23 and the
title of her message was A message
for rejoice Sunday.
Personals
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wiles of Kirk -
ton visited Tuesday night with Bill
and Rhoda Rohde.
Bill and Rhoda Rohde visited Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Thomson of
Woodham on Sunday evening.
United Church Women
Karen Etherington welcomed 23
women to the March meeting of the
United Church Women on Monday
night in the church basement.
Etherington .spoke on the theme
On the Journey Together.
The women sang In Christ there
is no east or west.
Kay Cunnington gave the intro-
duction to the country of Kenya.

Woman in .Kenya by Anne Bray
and Irene an Ontario farm woman
by Karen Etherington and. the nar-
rator Kay Cunnington.
The scripture reading from the
Old Testament Leviticus 25: 8-17
and from the New Testament John
14: 27 by Jean Duncan. Karen
Etherington 'edit' prayer.
The offering was received by
Anne Bray and an offertory prayer
by Jean Duncan.
Etherington gave the introduction
to the filmstrip Family farms - our
link to the Iandwhich was interest-
ing. The women sang 0 God our
help in ales past.
