The Redmen stopped Wingham Madill's streak of four consecutive Huron -Penh titles. They advance to WOSSA in a three team round- robin format with representatives from Lambton County and Lon- don. Monday, Clinton beat London CCH 4-2. Wednesday in Exeter, the two teams battled to a scoreless first period before Curtis McCone scored on a two -on -one and put the Redmen on the board. The visitors continued to domi- nate as McCone put one into the to a open net and Nate Burns walked right in to make it 3-0. Jason Boughen gave the Redmen a four goal cushion before South Huron got their offense rolling. "Lately we've had trouble holding the hard," said Central Huron coach Jeff Reaburn. But the Redmen, who knocked off Madill, held on to their lead and allowed just two South Huron goals. Jamie Cornish put a fancy move on the defenseman before flipping it high into the Redmen net to wrap up the scoring in the second period. In the third frame, Central Huron took advantage of a powerplay and McCone gtrick. Brian ot Gardner knocked in knthe rebound from a Paul Dickert shot for the second Panthers' goal. Although McCone dominated the winners' offense, Reaburn said it was a team win. "This is a real team effort, we don't have any stars," he said. Reaburn said the Redmen real- ized the Panthers wouldn't be a pushover. - "We were ready for a longer se- ries, we thought it would be close."
