Midgets lose to Thamesford
EXETER - The Exeter Midget
Generals Hockey •:.:r. were
trounced 8-1 by Thamesford in
their last Shamrock League game
before the Christmas break last
Wednesday night at the South Hu-
ron Rec Centre. •
Thamesford's Bill Holtema bad
the only marker of the first period
when he scored a power -play goal
at 12:44 of the opening period, get-
ting one behind Exeter goalie Jason
Clarke.
Penalties were the downfall in
this game. After Exeter's John Bell
tied the gaine two minutes into the
second period with an unassisted
goal, the visitors went on to score
seven unanswered goal the rest of
the game, five coming while they
enjoyed a power -play advantage.
Referee Mike Stepper assessed
the Exeter bench a pair of unsports-
manlike -conduct penalties which
also played a big part in the out-
come of the game.
Mau Scott led the winners with a
hat trick.

Bantams trounce Dorchester 11-3
EXETER - The Exeter Legion
Bantams roared to an 11-3 win over
Dorchester in a Shamrock Hockey
League game played at the South
Huron Rec Centre last Wednesday
night.
Exeter came flying out of the
starting block and built a 4-0 lead
after one period of play. •
Pete Gibson opened the scoring
for Exeter from Steve Farquhar and
Rob Kramer and that was followed
by a pair from Farquhar, one from
Hensall Shuffleboard

and the other from Fred Godbolt
and Nick Szabo. Godbolt also
scored in the first period from Far-
quhar.
Dorchester managed a pair of
goals in the second, the first and
last of the period, but they were
sandwiched around three goals by
Exeter in the middle of the period,
who lead 7-2 after two periods.
Scoring for Exeter in the second
were; Godbolt from Kramer, Fred
Steciuk from Farquhar and Gibson

from Jason Heywood from Stuart
and Heywood.
Exeter didn't let up in the final
period either, scoring four of the
five goals.
Farquhar completed his hat trick
from Gibson and Heywood, Lin-
denfield scored from Godbolt and
Kramer, Heywood hit from Steciuk
and Lindenfield rounded out the
scoring, from Kramer.
Richard Phillips recorded the
easy victory in goal for the local
squad.
Junior Ringette beaten
SEAFORTH - Exeter Junior
Ringette travelled to Seaforth on
Friday, but lost 7-2.
In the first period, Seaforth
scored three goals in less than
three minutes to take an early lead.
By the end of the first half, the
score was 5-0 Seaforth.
Exctcr scored two goals- in the
second period. Cheyenne West-
lake netted the first, with Cathie
Wilson assisting.
The second was put in by Mi -
chole Bowerman, v."ith Jill Sararas
helping.
Seaford) scored two goals in the
second period, to take the game.
Exeter seemed to play stronger
in the second period.
Katie Armstrong saved a lot of
would-be goals between the pipes.

read the Juniors beat Goderich
9-7, but in fact they lost the
game by the 9-7 count. We ap-
pologize for the error.
Senior Panthers split

The midget boys had two tough
meetings with Central last week.
On Monday, the Rams doubled SH
86-42 and on Wednesday SH fell
74-45.
On Monday, Mark Lynn led SH
with nine points. Ryan Stuart had
eight and Scott Parsons added six.
On Wednesday, Lynn was top -
scorer again with nine points. Nick
Szabo followed with eight and
Grcg Agnew had six.
All three of the SH's boys' bas-
ketball teams will resume play af-
ter the two week break.
