1-ENSALL - The fourth Jack and
Rita Aikenhead Reunion was held
on August 20 at the Hensall Com-
munity Park with 47 in. attendance.

Hello! Welcome to Queensway
News! Monday morning energetic
Rest Home residents gathered in the
Activity room after breakfast for
Fun and Fitness. A few participants
as well as their leader find those toe
touches a little difficult over a full
stomach, but we persevere. Library
hour was held in the afternoon and
attended by several residents.
The weekly church service Tues-
day afternoon was composed of con-
tributions by several residents. Myr-
tle Rodd sang a solo, Lillian Smith,
Lavina Watson and Mildred Ginge-
rich contributed scripture readings.

us, and Joyce Pepper was' our vul- - -
unteer pianist. Following the ser-
vice residents shared refreshments
and fellowship with visitors.
Wednesday following exercises
we discussed the coming lunar

watched this fascinating event. Bak-
ing Club met in the afternoon.
Agri Club met Thursday after-
noon. One of, our favorite resource
magazines is the Rural Voice. We

the publication. Giselle Ireland al-'
wa s leaves us lou hin "Nikki,
featured film Thursday evening. It
seemed to meet all the most desired
criteria preferred by residents. It was
a nature film about an animal pro-
duced by Walt Disney.
On Sunday residents and volun-
teers enjoyed a picnic lunch in
Clinton and had a great time cheer-
ing on their favorite horse at the
Clinton Racetrack. Thank you,
Walter Knowles of Hensall, for pro-
viding transportation and Ian Flem-
ing of the Clinton Raceway Associ-
ation for allowing us to park at the
racetrack fence so that everyone had
a perfect view of the races.
Coming events: August 31 at 7
p.m. our Birthday Party with enter-
tainment by the "Harmony Kings".
September.8 at 2:30 p.m. is Inter-
national Day featuring "Singapore".
Baker family gets together
HENSALL - Saturday, August
19, about 150 offspring of the late
Bob and Clara Baker of Hensall held
a Baker bash at the home of Gladys
(Baker) and Grant McGregor, Hen-
sall. Eleven of the 13 brothers and
sisters, along with their families,
enjoyed a very enjoyable day play-
ing ball, children games and adult
games, horse shoes, also just visit-
ing and looking at pictures.
The Bakers have had five sets of
twins on the family tree.
The day ended with a pot luck
dinner. Families came from Que-
bec, Kingston, Burlington, Camp
Borden, London, Stratford, Kichen-
er, Clinton, Seaforth, Varna, Exet-
er, Grand Bend, Dashwood and Hen-
sall. -
Mrs. Bruce Baker of Kingston is
in the area for a few days. staying
with her sister and brother-in-law,
Alphonse and Betty Grenier.
United Church
Mrs. Linda Hartman greeted wor-
shippers at Hensall United Church.
Our guests again this week were
members of the Carmel Presbyteri-
an Church.
Mrs. Janis Bisback sang a solo
"0 Rest In The Lord". Rev.
Wright's sermon was "Surprise".
Ushers were Grant St. John and
Doug Mock.
The 33rd General Council of The
United Church of Canada will be
held at the University of Western
Ontario August 14-23, 1990.
A competition has been an-
nounced to design a logo for the
Council. Volunteers will be needed
before and during the Council.
Spectators will be welcome to ob-
serve. Contact Rev. Wright for
more information.

Jamie Campbell of Guelph is
spending the week visiting with
Brad Hartman.
Another former Hensall resident,
Carollyn Rimellzwaan, spent last
week visiting with Kari Taylor and

Visitors with Glen and Pearl
McKnight last Tuesday afternoon
were Florrie Kirkpatrick and cousin
of Belfast, Ireland. They were ac-
companied by Marie Douglas of At-
wood and -Jay Ball of Clinton..
Margaret Mole enjoyed a visit
Saturday from her daughter Lois
Walden and granddaughter Tina
from Kincardine.
Mrs. Barbara Plumb of Northcrest
sent a few days last week with her
sister Peggy Loftus and mother Ber-
tha Onions in Richmond Hill.
Hazel Luther returned home after
spending a month with family and
friends in Newfoundland.
Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Parr of
Corunna visited on Sunday with the
McKnights.
Pearl McKnight spent a lovely
day last week with Sadie Hoy of
Hensall at her cottage near Pt.
Clarke.

The Hensall Happy Pushers shuf-
fled August 15 at the Community
Centre with the top scorer being
Walter Knowles - 508, followed by
Gerrie Moir - 465, Eileen Dowson -
460, Dorothy Brintnell - 427, and

Lambton County Public Education
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS:
Elementary pupils (other than Kindergarten
and French Immersion Kindergarten) will
commence school at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
September 5, 1989, and will attend for a half
day (a.m. only).
All Kindergarten pupils must participate in
an Early Identification Program. The par-
ents of these pupils will be notified of inter-
view times during the week of August 28 -
September 1, and be informed when classes
for these pupils commence.
For further information and registration' of
new students, parents may contact the local
school principal during the week of August
28 -. September 1.
BUS INFORMATION
Elementary school students are served by
several bus lines. Students in Sarnia and inx'
Clearwater ride buses supplied by The
Lambton County Board of Education (336-
1500), and by Charterways Bus Lines (336-
0077). County students ride buses owned by
Wight Coach Lines (882-1710), by Mc-
Naughton Bus Lines (876-2032), and by Ker-
nohan Bus Lines (786-2391). Direct questions
regarding bus transportation to these com-
panies. No changes are anticipated in Route
Schedules at this time.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS:
All secondary school students who have not
been timetabled for September, 1989, should
do so in August before the opening of school
at the school office in the attendance area in
which they reside.
Student Counsellors. and/or administrative
staff will be available, by appointment, for
the week of August 28 - September 1, to
meet students with timetable problems or
other program changes.
