A1LSA CRAIG - Summer is
made -to -measure for out -door activi-
ty! This ore has been especially co-
operative in that department. Even
the few hot humid days we did
have, were tempered by the new air
conditioner the Activity Centre in-
stalled for us!
The East Williams Grade five
class invited us out before school
closed and entertained us royally
with a Talent Show, and talent it
did show! There were skits and mu-
sical numbers that gave us a lot of
pleasure and made us realize what
creative young people we had! We
topped off our time together with
cake and juice accompanied by in-
formal chats with our special
friends.
Imagine what it would be like to
always either just call your grocery
order to the store and have it deliv-
ered, or have someone else do your
shopping for you. With all the new
products that are introduced to a
consumer in a year's time, you'd
soon get on what is availa-
ble! No imagine'it being 10 years
since you were in a grocery store.
Some of you reading this column
may know all too well exactly well
what it is like!
A tew weeks ago, we did some-
thing about it as wheelchair occu-
pants, pushers and cart pushers in-
vaded a super -mail grocery store.
We slowly browsed through -aisles
and marvelled at the variety and
abundance we are blessed to choose
from. Then we came home with
groceries we had chosen for our-
selves, right from the shelf!
This year our picnic at Ruth
Smith's farm turned out to be a per-
i
Korner
feet day weather-wise and otherwise.
Beth galled a lot of hamburgers that
we ate with a variety of fixings and
salads. There's something about the
fresh air and picnic atmosphere that
makes everything taste better, isn't
there?
Since we are located in Turtle -
town, we got into the spirit of Gala
Days and spent two full days mak-
ing turtles of the yummy chocolate
and cannel kind as well as hand -
painted chocolate Lade suckers, un-
der the tutelage of Laurie Engel.
They were a hit with the kids at
Gala Days, we had fun making
them and it all helps to kcep the
Day Centre going. It's probably
worthy of a repeat next year. If you
join us you'll even discover the se-
cret of getting the caramel n the
turtle!
Our July Birthday Bash honoured
three guests. Sue Heidebrechtpro-
vided a special touch by providng a
lovely background of piano nusic
for the morning. Jennie, Evelynand
John's pictures were taken wilt the
Birthday Cake. It smelled too good
to just look at it, so we didn't ake
long in cutting it and savoring it
along with icecream.
With flowers blooming and cops
growing, minds turn to gardenng.
Carol Nicholson came . to stare
some gardening tips and got usall
enthused about hangink tonato
plants, compost, geraniums ind
more! With her help and the reent
. rains, our flower beds should suely
thrive.
With such a good start to sim-
mer, we've got all kinds of ideasfor
August! Several newcomers hive
joined us, so why not come along
and get acquainted at the same tine?
