Guest returns to Norway

VARNA - Oystein Lund, ex-
change student staying at Barry
Cleave's left Varna for his home in
Norway on Saturday, July 15.
On Friday, July 14 there was a
Buck and Doe held in the Stanley
Complex in honour of Mark Tay-
lor,.son of Bill and Helen Taylor,
and Sharon Thiel, daughter of Ge-
rald and Dianne Thiel of Zurich.
Several people from Varna and
area attended this successful fun
night of dancing. Congratulations
to Paul Stephenson. He was the
lucky winner of the draw which was
an ice Cooler and Jug to match.

from the community to Rhea Beat -
son who has been a patient in Uni-
versity Hospital, London, since
Sunday, July 9.
Sympathy is extended to the fam-
ily of Aleatha Dunlop who died sud-
denly at the St. Marys Memorial
Hospital on Wednesday, July 12.
Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Harlton were their Flor-
ida friends Mr. and Mrs. Harry Farn-
combo of Liverpool, Now Scotia.

house in honor of Mr. and Mrs.
Stuart Bannerman's 45 wedding an-
niversary held aj the Friendship
Centre in St. Marys on Saurday af-
ternoon, July 15.

Sunday at his home in the 'illage.

SHIPKA - About 80 Russell
farnily relatives gathered on Sun-
day, July -9, for their annual family
picnic held this year at .Cottam
Community Centre.
Relatives came from Michigan,
Detroit, Kingsville, Essex, LaSalle,
Strathroy, Dashwood and Shipka.
Attending from this arca were
Cliff and Velma Russell, Dash-
wood, Doug and Ann Russell, Con-
nie, Alex and Elizabeth and Jill,
Don and Ann Russell, with Da-
nielle, Chantelle and Casandra, and
Kathy (Russell) and Rick Plaine,
Elisha and Ashley, of Strathroy.
The children had races with rib-
bons as prizes.
Jenny Russell, of Cottam, daugh-
ter of Tom and Roseanne holidayed
last week with her Russell grand-
parents in Dashwood and other rela-
tives in this arca.
Coleman reunion
The 1989 Coleman reunion pic-
nic was held Sunday July 16 at
Lion's Park, Scaforth with around
50 in attendance.
A good line of sports was con-
ducted by Diane March, Brenda Em-
pey and Gail Uhler. Races, two year
and under - Brent Coleman; four to
five years - Finlayson, over
five years - Jessica Finlayson; girls
sackracc - Cari Coleman; boys sack
race - Paul Moore; over six years
three legged race won by Paul
Moore and Scan Coleman.

and Bev Coleman, Water balloon
toss - Bill Uhler and Kcn Empcy.

youngest children - Sarah Jane Fin-
layson and Robyn Coleman. Oldest
person attending went to Harry Bak-
er of Bayfield who- is 86 years
young. Man's birthday closest to
picnic won by Art Finlayson and
the group sang "Happy Birthday".
Lady with an April birthdate - Ja-
nice Cairns. Closest anniversary to
picnic day won by Brian and Linda
Wilson. Travelling farthest distance
was Bill and Gail Uhler, from Bur-
lington.
The 1990 executive as follows:
President - Gordon Coleman, Lon-
don, 1st Vice president - Ivan
McClymont, Secretary - Lois Cole-
man,- London, Treasurer - Gayle
Coleman. It was decided to hold the
picnic, at the same place in 1990
with the same sports committee.
Everyone enjoyed a bountiful
smorgasbord supper. A moments si-
lence was observed for deceased
members of the clan.
Rclativcs attended from Dublin,
Scaforth, Bayficld, Burlington, Bel-
mont, Brucefield, Zurich, Varna, St.
Marys, Exeter, Auburn and Dash-
wood.
Hugh and I attended the Coleman
reunion last Sunday, and on our
way home stopped for a short visit
with our nephew and niece, John
and Carol Coleman at Kippen.
