Bell Canada has indicated it is cer- tainly interested in the welfare of the environment and has co- operated in the past in efforts to re- cycle outdated directories. In the event that sufficient num- ber of directories can be collected, the low grade newsprint used in the directories, and the amount of ink required in the printing process, would result in an even lower grade by-product. Also, confronting the company is the costly and labour-intensive job of removing the spines and covers of the directories before recycling can begin.
