Lucan guns down Jr. Co-ops 7-5
EXETER - The Exeter Co -Op
Juniors lost a close 7-5 match to
Lucan in their only home game last
Wednesday.
The Co -Ops opened scoring with
one run in the second inning.
The Juniors seemed to be on a
rally in the third when Jeff Butler
was walked from the plate, stole
second and third as Scot Russell
was walked and stole as well. Mar-
di Merner then hit a single and stole
as both Butler and Russell arrived
safely at home. Unfortunately the
rally ended there and the. Co -Ops
added another run in the fourth and
seventh innings.
Lucan brought in single runs in
the third and seventh innings as
well as three in the fourth and two
in the fifth.
Butler, Russell and Dave
Schwindt each went one for three at
the Plate each have singles. Scot
Davidson went one for one on a
single and Gregus also had a single
for two trips to the plate.
Terry Genttner pitched the first
four innings allowing two hits, five
runs, walking two and striking out
two. Russell relieved after for three
allowing one hit, two runs, walk-
ing two and striking out four.
The Juniors travel to Seaforth to-
night (Wednesday) for a league
game. -
Lawn bowlers win gold in Quebec
BEACONFIELD - Four young,
local lawn bowlers recently. trav-
elled to Beaconfield, Quebec for a
pairs tournament where they
'claimed the gold medal and fourth
place.'

thercott, members of Exeter's newly
established Junior Lawn Bowlers
Club, participated in the first ever
junior tournament to be held in the
Province of Quebec where they
claimed the gold medal. _
Truemner and Nethercott had wins
of 13-6, 18-9 and 13-7.
Shawn and Allan McFalls, also
members of the Junior club,,man-
aged to bring home fourth place.
The pair had wins of 30-3 and 17-9
and one loss of 13-10.
Ontario sent 21 bowlers while .
Montreal made up the other 11.

Wise got on base by an error and
was driven in by Jim Lewis in the
second inning.
Lewis led the team at the plate
with two hits while Allison, Al
Pym and Brian Noyes added sin-
gles.
Wise recorded the -win .on the
mound allowing only three
hits,striking out eight and walking
one.
In the consolation final, the lo-
cals were matched against another
South Perth team, the Mitchell
Gladiators. The Royals had little
difficulty overcoming their oppo-
nents, doubling them 10-5.
The Royals opened their scoring
in the second inning with one run,
followed by four in Inc third, three
in the fifth and adding two in the
sixth.
Mitchell opened scoring in the.
first inning when their first two
batters scored. The Royals left
fielder, Pym, extinguished Mitch-
ell's hopes of any more runs when
he made a fabulous throw to the
plate on the final out of the inning.
Mitchell added one more run in the
second and two more among the the
final five.
Leading Exeter at the plate was
Heywood whith a double and two
singles. Allison, Brent Dawson,
Wise, Pym, Johns and Brian Sower -
by all scored at least once in four
trips to the plate.
Wise recorded his second win at
the mound for the weekend.
