Centennials win
EXETER The Exeter Centen-
nial senior soccer club obtained
their first win of the 1989 season
by defeating Wallacetown deci-
sively 5-0, Sunday afternoon.
The home team took the lead
approximately. 25 minutes 'Into
the first half with a goal by Ray
Lewis from a cross by left winger
Craig Winbow who shone in his
debut up front as normally he
plays goal.
Second goal in the first half was
Maurice VanDeWalle's first of, a
hat trick froma corner kick by
Dale Regier in the last two min-
utes.
In the second half, Exeter was
again successful three more times
as Wallacetown never seemed to
press too hard. Maurice VanDe-
Walle scored two more and Joe
Kaak added one to end the game.
Excellent games were played by
Maurice VanDeWalte and John
Flanagan.
Next action for the Centennial
club is in Chatham on July 23 for
a 5 o'clock match.
Next home game is July 30 at 2
p.m.

pated in a Two Balt Foursome
Tuesday at the Exeter Golf Club.
Winning pair were Grace Drum-
mond and Viv Davidson, Jean Lit-
-tle and Kathy Robbins tied Peggy
Ferguson and Noreen McCann for
second place.

HENSALL - The Exeter Royals
ran their league record to 7-4 by
downing_thc league -leading Tavis-
tock Orioles Wednesday night in
Hensall. Exeter's usual staunch de-
fence combined with some timely
hitting helped secure a 5-3 victory.
This was only the third loss for
the Orioles in' 16 games. Tavistock
opened the scoring in the top of the
first scoring one run on a bases
loaded error. Greg Wise countered
for Exeter in their half of the fourth
inning by driving in Brent Dawson
and Bryon Noyes with his two base
hit. Wise went on to score on Dan
Heywood's single.
The Royals scored two more runs
the next inning when Bryon Noyes
doubled with Rod Johnston and
Brent Dawson aboard.
Tavistock closed out the scoring
in the 6th inning with two runs.
Bryon Noyes helped lead. the
Royals out of what seemed to be a
season long team hitting slump by
going 3 for 4 at the plate. Brent
Dawson had two hits while Cor-
nish, Heywood, Johnson and Tuck-
ey all added singles.
Dan Heywood picked up the win
by surrendering five hits through 5
1/3 innings. He struck out three
